i thought you were talking about Andy Haman at first i was like wtf?

alright dude get some perspective. hes 21 years old, no one his age is close to him in terms of development from a BBing standpoint and there arent many people his age close to him from a STRENGTH standpoint either. what do you think thats going to do to his head? he’s the strongest guy in the gym, hes the biggest guy in the gym, hes one of the YOUNGEST guys in the gym. he probaly hears from about 10 people a day, outside of the gym, a comment about his body or training in some form. the psychological effects of that are hes going to see himself as others do and hes going to start saying the things people SAY TO HIM. i mean dude anything he says about himself is a VERY watered down cumulation of what 100 people have said to him earler that week.

its one thing to start looking that way when youre 25+ and its another thing to have been big that long where youre just used to it, its another thing to train somewhere where everyone is bigger than you so you are automatically kind of humbled once in a while.

bodybuilding in itself is about showing off. guys get on stage in a bikini with protan and bleached teeth, completely shaven because they want to win a trophy. bodybuilding is basically a beauty pagent but no one likes to admit it. i get so sick of guys on this site complaining whenever they see someone who is vain or arrogant in another context, oh that guy likes to wear certain clothes, hes so vain, that guy drives a ferrari hes so arrogant, but no youre mister fucking humble pie if youre on stage flexing for a crowd of people or trying to figure out how you can get your lat-spread more developed. bullshit. i agree theres a time and a place for everything and some people should tone it down a little just for characters sake but if you can sit back and say you dont think of yourself as a cut above someone else cause youre bigger or stronger than them then youre either a liar or aint doing it right.

I agree 100%. Find a 21 year old half his size and see if their personality is any different. Part of being young.

Ya… I suppose he is still young… that doesn’t give him a license to sound like an arrogant person though…

Wow… I’m REALLY starting to sound like I’m 30+ now… :S lol

The kid is strong with big muscles…its not like he developed a cure for cancer or brokered peace in the Middle East. Why exactly should he be full of himself??

What’s the matter guy, get your panties in a bunch? The vid could very well be legit, and I could be talking [typing] outta my ass. But, in every vid I’ve seen with someone pressing over 5 plates the bar starts bending. This one didn’t. [/quote]

Post a video of you benching 5 plates so you can show us how the bar bends.

youre aware youre asking why he should be proud of himself on a bodybuilding website right? just want to make sure you know this T-Nation.com and not the homepage for girl scout troop number 603.

most people who could do that at any age would act the same.

but hes a whale in a pond, what do you expect.

There it is. Struggling with 495 for a deuce, while still silly strong is completely different than hitting 6-hundo for whipped cream faced 4. Safe to say the vid was fake so he could look better for his audition tape.
Also, Castleberry does come across as a jerkoff, but he’s young. Chances are he’ll grow out of it.

I can’t bench 5 plates. I have deaded 5 plates though, and the bar did bend.

Actually, this proves nothing, and he addresses this, saying in this video he has a strained pec minor.

Dude, he’s not lying. Accept the fact that people can be this strong.

There is a difference between being proud of oneself and being full of oneself. How about you take off the “I just came off the short bus” sunglasses and try reading a book so these things are a bit clearer?

Why is the spotter in the pics even touching the bar? And don’t give me the its for safety crap… If he buried himself with 600lbs., one spotter is not gonna lift it off his crushed chest… Not saying it is not for real, but it does raise a few eyebrows.

What really puts me off is that a 675 bench would make him the top, maybe in the top 3, benchers for his weight class in the world.

Why does that put you off? He doesn’t look like he could be?

Check the dates on the vids, about a years difference. So it’s not that one day he could do it and the next he could.

Guy is a world class athlete, and ifbb pro, nothing too unbelievable to me. If I’m not mistaken, Adam Archuleta was putting up 500lbs at a about 210-220.
