I want to shake ED COAN’s hand when I break his total at 220lbs.
HOW DO I BECOME THE BEST?

Forget Ed Coan, Travis Mash is the man.[/quote]

i recall travis being beaten by coan last year or so… when coan was injured and not performing near his all time best…

how exactly do you get that mash is better?

I AM A BIG FAN OF TRAVIS, BUT, TRAVIS BEAT COAN’S RECORD IN A MULTY PLY FED WITH NO DRUG TESTING(WPO), UNLIMITED GEAR, A MONOLIFT, AND 24 HR WEIGH IN. COAN COMPETED IN A SINGLE PLY FED(OFTEN W/O BENCH SHIRT) DRUG TESTED(WHICH HE DID FAIL SOME), WITH A WALKOUT… AND A 2 HOUR WEIGH IN…

THE SAME YEAR MR. MASH WAS SMOKED BY AN OLDER BUT STILL THE STRONGEST GUY IN THE WORLD ED COAN IN AN USPF(?) MEET.

Is Travis strong as hell? Fuck yeah. Stronger than Ed Coan? Not yet. Will he be, can he be?? Prove it. I think he might, but Ed Coan is still the strongest and most consistent powerlifter that ever walked the earth. You cant compare the performances.

If you want to be a champion you have to train like a champion

“With 10 years of hard and disciplined work, I think you CAN beat the GRAND total of 220lbs?”

Why isn’t anyone saying this? Am I missing something? Are we talking about another total then bench+squat+dead? Did I miss a joke? Whaaaat?

in the same federation under the same rules using the same gear?

I dont think so…

correct me if im wrong but i really doubt it…

comparing records between feds is stupid… comparing coans records to a triple ply not as strict movements record doesnt count…

the only time the competed together mash got well beaten by a well past his prime coan…

Youve set the goal, Now you have to beleive Truely beleive not think But KNOW you will be the bst, you have to live and breath it and take nothing less. Keep going never satisfied ever even after you are the best.

Go do it.

220 is the weight class he want to Destroy the record in.

Dont take that genetics crap and let it be a limiter either, dont let anything be an excuse if you really want this you have to do what ever it takes.

agree, but he broke Coan’s record.

Eat your wheaties.

I seriously doubt it will happen, but why don’t you train hard and smart and see what happens?

But he didnt… you cant even compare the two. We are talking about one of the single greatest strenght sport performances ever. Coan beat Kaz’s total record that day. A 238lb man out totaling a 330ish.

To mimic Ed coan’s toatl is not enough, to be the next Coan you would have to out total Jeff Lewis or Garry Frank and be 100-200lbs lighter… I dont think you fully appreciate what he did…

from a website

"Coan exceeded the all-time powerlifting total with an historic 2463-total. He became the all-time greatest powerlifter in the history, blasting the total mark to smithereens. Any athlete that can exceed the legal lifts in legal fashion of hall-of-fame lifters like Bill ‘Kaz’ Kazmaier (330-pounds) or the late, great, O.D. Wilson (420-pounds), deserve praise. Keep in mind that Kaz set his historic powerlifting total mark of 2425 way back in 1981.

He broke 350-pound Don Rheinhout’s 2420 mark, which has stood since 1975! Kaz broke Don’s record, which stood for eight years, and O.D. totaled 2425 in 1988 to break Kaz’s record which itself had stood for seven years. Who finally exceeded the legitimate lifts (below parallel squats, single-ply bench shirt, and fully locked-out deadlifts) of the powerlifting Gods? Why, it was incredible Ed Coan in 1998. Ed weighed 100-200 pounds less then the immortals and this is almost beyond comprehension.

If Ed, upon completing his final deadlift with 887, had spread his arms and commenced flying around the auditorium, powerlifters could not have been more shocked."

Agreed. I’ve seen the WPO and what passes for a lift. That org is a joke! I’m sure I’ll get flammed but who cares. You internet weenies can go get your panties in a bunch! Have fun!

PEPECUATE! Cacahuate Estilo japones. DUH! Everyone knows that!

I can’t believe this hasnt been mentioned…

if you want to be the best you have to train with the best. Learn all you can from as many different people and learn to apply their knowledge to yourself.

Also a sure step in out performing your predicesors is learning from their mistakes and not repeating them. This will automaticly put you one step ahead

Patiently and painstakingly figure out what training works for you- what set/reps, what exercises, what training cycles, what food, what drugs (if you choose to go that way), etc. But how about this- first things first, don’t worry about Ed. Worry about you. You have to beat your old total many times before you can ever beat Ed’s. Besides, if you do ever beat Ed, you’ll have nothing to shoot for if you are not trying to beat yourself.

Let’s say…he ties ed’s total…does the exact same numbers…but never took steroids…(people will ask how do you know he never took steroids)…but lets just say…he ties ed’s total, and never ever does it chemically enhanced…would that be winning automatically?
