Thirteen guys out of the top twenty bodybuilders at the Olympia don’t have the myostatin gene that limits muscle growth. They could whack off and Grow!
There are only 2 recorded human cases of “double-muscle”.
Doesn’t Flex Wheeler have a rare mutation of the myostatin gene? I don’t believe that the majority of the Olympia competitors are myostatin deficient, though.
It’s a fact in the same sense, and with the same epistemology, that it’s a fact that the reason men like flipping channels with the remote is because of a caveman past of watching the flickering of firelight on cave walls.

I’m pretty sure he has personally denied that. I could be wrong about that part but I have also read that it was just a rumor or a joke that got taken seriously and spread.
My girlfriend is in med school right now and myostatin came up in discussion. She said that the professor brought up Flex Wheeler. I asked her to ask the professor for proof. She asked him privately and he said that he had no proof and it was just something he had heard. Sorry for the pointless story

Are you as tough on her as you are on the 09ers?
That a professor even knows Flex Wheeler is impressive. Give him a good review on RateMyProfessor.com

Poliquin threatens his athletes with fireballs from his eyes and bolts of lightning from his arse!
He is honestly the most full of shit coach out there, not saying he doesn’t know how to make someone strong but he is the definition of majoring in the minors, even if his cited “studies” do have merit. The fact that another well known coach (Robert Dos Remedios) says Poliquin is absolutely full of shit regarding many things he has said, leads me to believe that Poliquin is overrated.
When has Poliquin put on a ton of muscle on a frame that was NOT detrained? I would like to see him tackle such a challenge.
I don’t see what workouts he can design that DeFranco, Waterbury, Charles Staley or Dos Remedios can’t come up with. Poliquin has an agenda and that is to push his own supplements and training centers.

OK, I wasn’t really sure about it, it was something I vaguely recall people talking about. It probably is just a rumour.

he worked with hyde last year. all those coaches you mentioned all have an agenda, that argument is bunk. and no coach is going to take a well conditioned athlete and put ‘loads of muscle on him’.

Agreed.
Charles Poliquin has some good stuff to say, and some stuff I am more hesitant to believe, or consider using. I like reading his stuff though.
it sounds very farfetched. Also, suppose those 13 are myostatin deficient, then why are the other 7 even able to compete, why arent the other myostatin deficient guys making up the other 7 places?

There is really debate about how false that statement is?
You know, when I was skinny, no one wasted any time to point out how I would probably not be able to gain much size. Now…all I hear is how great my genetics must be. All most people can see is the end result or how someone is right now. Better genetics do NOT equal “myostatin gene deficient”. Just because some guy can build arms over 21" doesn’t mean he is lacking entire gene sequences.
That statement sounded like yet another attempt to discredit the hard work people actually put in…which some of us get enough of every single day.
Poliquin just loves thowing “truths” out there, my fave was how his team of elite olympic athletes liked to drive between lecture halls thus “prooving” they were fast-twitch dominant.
I have to agree with Josh here. I have tried some of poliquin’s supplement tricks like supplementing hcl with meals and all I managed to do is almost shit myself a number of times. Alot of his training tips are good but all the other tips I read but wait for other to try before I do it.
