Help With My Legs

I don’t train my legs very much. I need to start doing that. I really like making my lower back, my butt and my hamstrings stronger. I was wondering if you all wouldn’t mind reccomending some good information on some posterior chain and even some quadriceps training.

We can’t deadlift at the college gym, and I deadlift at home, but my poundage is limited. We also don’t have a squat rack at the college gym, so I am limited to what I can clean onto my shoulders, unless I want to do zercher squats or something. I don’t really feel like training my legs much, but I know I need to. I am also hoping that by training my legs, it will help lean me out a bit.

b. i have long limbs, and i found that squats hit my ass and hams more than really nailing my quads

leg press has been better for my quads

Why can’t you deadlift? All you need is a barbell and some weights. Is it forbidden or something.

I do ATG squats. Sumo deads. Stiff-leg deads, and Regular deads for legs. I actually consider deads a leg workout and not a back workout… I concentrate it and lift it with as much legs as possible. I use rows for back.

I don’t do any machines or extensions or curls. Legs(calves excluded) are the one muscle group you pretty much don’t need to isolate… /…when your ass is on the ground with a boatload of weight on your shoulders… there is pretty much one set of muscles(glutes, quads, hams) that you have to use if you’re going to move that weight back up.

They wont allow deadlifting in the college gym.

What a gay college.

They’ll allow cleans but not deadlifts? Then just tell them you’re practicing the first pull of a clean… close enough

The sign on the wall at my gym says “Use olympic bars only in designated area. No cleans or powerlifts.” Stupid insurance.

Yeah, just do clean pulls. When someone asks what you’re doing, just say “I’m trying to do a clean, but the weights’ too heavy!”

You could also do stiff-legged deadlifts, Romanian deadlifts, good mornings, and lunges. I remember there was a whole article on differnt types of lunges a while back.

Possibilities:

  1. It’s an all male college.
  2. So THAT’S how he’s paying for college
  3. He needs a place to carry his cell phone

Do you have a leg press, hack squat or cables?

I love cable pull-thrus.

Some other ideas walking lunges or add a lunge when doing step-ups.

If you can find a place that allows squats and deadlifts you will probably enjoy leg day more. I use to hate working legs until I stopped using the smith machine and starting using the power rack.

Women don’t like body builders asses as much as you think. They just don’t like a guy with no ass. What they like is actually a smaller ass, not a big ass. I have a big butt, its not winning any prizes… and my wife actually likes it but she says its too big; well she thinks all of me is too big, what else is new? Too big… my ass. I’ve got at least 25 pounds of muscle to gain.

If you want a big ole butt like mine, just squat. You’ll have a squatters ass in no time.

I know that this will sound dumb, but for step ups, do I just get dumbells and step up on a bench?

In the T-Nation article “Exercises You’ve Never Tried #18” there is a video of someone performing a step up with a lunge. Just make sure if you skip the lunge that you do not push off with the foot on the floor.

Holy fuck… when I started in the game it was all about chest, shoulders, and some nice guns. Now we got these kids trying to cut at 140 because they want to look like Brad Pitt. This dude wants to build up his ass muscles.

What the fuck is going on? Am I missing something? Does Arnold Schwarzenegger and Serge Nubret not have any appeal any more. What the fuck happened? Nowadays you have to look like Leonardo DiCaprio or Orlando Bloom at a massive 125lbs to impress the ladies. Is looking like a man with a broad shoulders and a V-tapered back out of the question now? I’ve never even heard of a man wanting to build up his ass muscles. Someone please slap the shit out of me and wake me the fuck up. This can’t be happening.

I know money is probably tight, apparently unlike your ass ;-] , and there may be other issues as well, but if at all humanly possible you need to find an actual gym to workout in. On another note I was surprised at how much could be accomplished when playing around with dumbell squats as goofy as that may sound.

LOL!

You could also do deadlifts with DB. One sided deadlifts or RDL. These are probably allowed in your gym because you do not drop the weight when doing them and they don’t scare the soccer moms.

You should work your lower body so you don’t look like a kite but I don’t think girls like big butts. But what do I know, my hubby is 5’10" and weighs 145lbs.
