I went away for 3-4 monthes since i’ve come back a lot of my friends said I got taller. So I measured myself and i’m 2 inches taller then I was 2 years ago the last time I checked. I figured I stopped growing at 21.
Didn’t realize you could get taller at this age ever happen to anybody else? I’m wondering if it has to do with recently gettign back into workout last year.
normally your skeletal growth plates seal at 23 which stops growth…
you can experience growth through different habits such as:
lengthening the spine
stretching more
not using heavy weights that can compress the spinal column
and so on…
when i tore my levator scapulae (neck) last year i was ordered to stretch every day and not lift any weights (obviously) and aftyer 6 weeks i had “grown” 3 cms purely because my posture was much better and my spine had not been put under heavy pressure like squats, could any of this apply to you?
Since you started working out your posture is probably much better now, and your feet might have more of an arch. Any chance you used to have a job where you wore a lot of gear - military, fire etc?
Definitly isn’t new shoes. started notice my girl was shorter without wearing shoes did the getto measurement. Pencil making a line on the wall behind me and a tape measure so it might not be 100% accurate but I’m definitly at least an inch taller.
Lots recently changed
my diet has had a major change
Used to work construction and a desk job which really hurt my back I can do third world squats all my life like the recent article posted on T-Nation however when it comes sitting in chairs for an hour it really kills my back. I used to be in a metal band and basiclly stand up playing electric guitar for 4-5hrs a night before bed after work and do shows on the weekend. Guess not the brightest thing to do after coming home with back pains work strap a guitar around your neck and hurt your back some more.
Now I’m a stock investor that works from home so I don’t have to destroy my back at work. I also don’t play guitar like a nutcase anymore trying to get good because I know how to play now. Started workng in stocks ruffly the same time I started working out and also stopped playing guitar all hours of the day aroudn the same time.
As srated got back into weight lifting after a very long break about a year ago
Streching and getting massages daily something I neglected.
Having ton of sex in the last 6 monthes not sure if any GH or something.
Didn’t think of my old jobs that really messed my back up at the time I posted this been so glad to be rid of them. Prehaps it compressed something and it got stretched out. Either way thanks for the feedback helped me figure things out that I neglected
I was also a very late bloomer as a kid had a deep voice early but didn’t grow till senior year of high school which needless to say sucked I was a midget with a deep voice =(.

No way, squats are the growingest exercise there is. The amount of GH/Test induced by heavy spinal compressive loads is unreal. He’s saying if you wear heavy loads all day, every day, like a construction worker or army foot soldier, then you’ll get squooshed. Doing squats in the gym makes you grow like a weed, definitely stick with them!

I think that over time heavy squatting can lead to compression of the spine. Think it’s a good idea to incorporate some front squats and unilateral training from time to time in place of back squatting to give your spine a rest. There’s a time and a place for everything.

Do you know how hard it is to get bigger when your that tall !!![/quote]
Be that as it may, once you’re filled out you will look more impressive than anyone of normal height. Look at Magnus Samuelsson, he is amazingly impressive. Curling over 300 pounds for REPS.
I don’t know about this growth thing. I load my spine very often the way I train, but it is possible for this sort of thing to affect you. On an only slightly related note, I read somewhere about a formula one driver losing two inches in height from racing, which sounded weird at the time.

Dude, you have one heck of a gift. Don’t get down about being at a disadvantage as a bodybuilder or a powerlifter. You could easily get your school paid for through basketball if you worked at it. Being that height at 12, you should be able to get fairly close to 7 feet. I would love to be 6’8 or 6’9.

my thoughts exactly. sorry bro but the reality of you actually growing taller is very very very unlikey - like, it didnt happen.

I think he means sitting on his feet in a squat instead of in a chair like people do in 3rd world countries. (better for your back)

It might happen to some people, but it’s rare. Time of day matters. Often a person is an inch or possibly more taller out of bed,and gradually shrinks throughout the day as spine compresses. Hanging and stretching can add more than two inches according to some sources, but it is temporary in the absence of serious maintenance.
