Well i’m not exactly new to exercise and what not, off and on i tend to train. But anyway, i’m kinda worried about my height and weight. Well, i turn 17 in a few days, and i’m only like 5’3, and weigh 120.
Well, besides the fact i’m growing doubtful of a growth spurt, i’ve weighed 120, on the dot, since i can last remember. I think 2 years ago when i wrestled i weighed 115, and now for like i’d say atleast a year i’ve been 120 lbs. And i’m not really on a diet because i wanna gain weight.
But, i know my post sounds real newbish, sorry. But, should i just eat supplements to gain weight, or are there alternatives? Because, i can’t really guarentee i’ll be able to afford a routine supplement consumption rate due to financial issues. Anyway, 5:45 am and i’m just kinda ranting. So, any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

i’ve been eatin every chance i could for my entire life But, my mom does the shopping, and she buys a pretty unsteady diet of foods, like one week it’ll be stuff that’s normal, and then another it’ll be just a load of junk food, and then there’s weeks where there’s pretty much nothing at all to eat.
I don’t have a job so i can’t really get any income, i’d get a job if any were open around here, but there’s not. My parents are divorced and my dad occasionally gives me cash for food, but that’s it. Pretty crappy way to gain any weight, but i do eat a lot of pasta which is pretty good for ya.

try asking your mom if you can go grocery shopping with her. As of now, I want you to try to drink as much milk and eat as many peanuts as you can
one pasta isn’t good for you and 2 without alot of calories you wont gain anything. supplements don’t do anything withotu food. write your mother a food list or get off your ass and get a job. you don’t eat constantly or elso you wouldn’t weigh what you do. I eat 9-10 meals a day and get around 4400 calories for a bulk.

I had a long post written about how stupid this statement is but I’ll just resort to pointing a finger at you while laughing.
yeah, i was kinda stumped at that myself…
But, i’m not lazy or anything about a job, there’s seriously no opportunity in my area, hopefully i’ll be moving to Fl soon and there i expect more opportunity. But i seriously didn’t know peanuts were so essential, easy enough for my mom to buy me those, she usually does anyway without me asking. But i’ll think up some food with plenty of calories and give her a list. Thanks for the help so far, still accepting further suggestions as well.
Peanuts and nuts in general are very dense in calories, that is why they were suggested. You can easily consume 300-500 calories from a couple servings of nuts.
Heh. This is a question fairly close to my heart. I too am 5’3’’ and sat at 120 lbs for a long time.
Unfortunately for your case the trick for me wasn’t supplements, but was just getting in a much larger food volume. There is really no way around it. Are you lactose intolerant? If not, drink a gallon of milk every 1-2 days.

pasta has a high gi. how is it good for you? maybe whole wheat pasta. still oats and rice are much better choices
So I guess all Italians, Greeks, Chinese, Japanese, etc. are dead on their feet? Pasta has been around forever. People seem to have been doing just fine with eating it for centuries!
Did i say it would kill you? Learn basic nutrtion and come back to me. He said its good for you. its not good for you. people have been eating sugar for thousands of years is that good for you. Your analogy is flawed and you are stupid. Dont talk shit involving nutrtion when you weigh 160 pounds, little guy;-)

Well, not everyone is trying to lose weight (like the poster above). High GI foods are only undesirable when you are trying to cut. All high GI means is that the food carries an insulin response. Why is this bad for bulking?

Being 160lbs is irrelevant. Just go as gottatrain. You’re a food Nazi and the fact that you said pasta is bad for you clearly shows that. So I suggest you put down your little photocopied hand book from school and learn to think outside of the box and not automatically delve into your preprogramed answers you’ve grown acustomed to.

You still don’t want to consume a ton of untimed high GI carbs when bulking… although there are worse things (like not eating enough), you still don’t want to put on any more fat than you have to.

Dont even waste your breath fire. The original poster asked about gaining weight. Then the food Nazi came in here with his stock answer and said “Pasta no good for you!” Paraphrasing of course. There is nothing wrong with it. But as with anything going overboard with anything is bad for you. Well maybe not strip clubs. I cant get enough of those!
PGA is right. Pasta of all types has a suprisingly low GI. Of course the whole wheat varieties are better (and taste pretty damn good too). You’ll find a boatload of references if you Google “pasta GI”. For instance:
Q: Why does pasta have a low GI?
A: Pasta has a low GI because of the physical entrapment of ungelatinised starch granules in a sponge-like network of protein (gluten) molecules in the pasta dough. Pasta is unique in this regard. As a result, pastas of any shape and size have a fairly low GI (30 to 60). Asian noodles such as hokkein, udon and rice vermicelli also have low to intermediate GI values.
