You are trying to directly equate lifting ability with size and compare your genetics to someone else’s. There are lots of different factors that come into play. Lever length, muscle insertion, fast:slow fiber ratio, nervous system recruitment, etc.
to an extent yes, but this is a rather enormous discrecpancy.
Dude, just drop it…

Just let it go. Row what you row how you row it, and don’t worry about who is bigger. Because honestly, without pictures or videos of yourself, you are just heading down a slippery slope.

You said your peace, so lets just leave it at that. OP is doing fine, and will figure out the right way to row that makes his body grow the best in time.

^^DING DING DING!!! Good post

I feel like the usual “Pics/Vids or GTFO/STFU” are in order

Apparently this chick is working harder and lifting more weight than many of the men in this thread?

No one cares if you’re lifting 70lb dumbbells but are “bigger than the OP” and this “doesn’t add up”. It’s not like 125lbs is some kind of impressive weight for a DB row, it just appears to be a little bit too much for the OP because he’s cheating more than I’d like to see.

But for all of you that think size and strength is some kind of exact science that can be compared between individuals, what do you have to say to some little girl lifting more than you and making it look easy?

What the hell lol I’ve never seen a girl lift that heavy

And no it’s 125lb not 2 62.5’s. My dad probably has a bigger back than me too but uses 50lb for DB rows and higher reps and doesn’t workout as intensely…he’s also just shorter and heavier which itself makes a huge difference. In fact he’s bigger than me all around but probably works out about twice per week now and is significantly weaker than me. Doesn’t deadlift/squat/etc… What are your other lifts like?

Damn that video was awesome! I think I just got a boner from watching that chick row.

^ Think? How could you not with the couple of barks in there at the end?! She is sweetness defined.

For me db rows start out strict the first half of the set and then a little leg drive or torso twist the last few. OP seems to have the same form through out.

I made another video, I think my form was clearly improved, but unfortunately I only got the bottom half of the movement. I guess I can try again next week.

I adhere to what Dorian said, which was a little English is ok, but you should be able to hold the weight at the top of the positive motion – a static hold. Otherwise you didn’t ‘muscle’ the weight up, you just used momentum. If you use momentum, you’re not working the muscle – it’s in your joints.

That chick was awesome. However, she couldn’t hold that weight to her hip. NO way. Just like the OP. He needs to drop to at least 80.

Depends if you’re ego lifting, or lifting for gains.

80lb would feel very light for a working set for me

That chick has a nice DB row

i dont think the op’s form is that bad, dropping 40 lbs off his working weight seems ill-advised to me. I think its more important that he remembers to squeeze his back at top and retract the scapula

80lbs??? How is he going to make gains doing super slow ‘perfect form’ reps with 80 fucking lbs, when he can row 125 without too much issue.

I’m pretty sure I started out being able to DB row 80lbs with pretty decent form when I weighed 145lbs.

And by the way, Dorian was using very heavy weights when he was talking about a slight hold, he didn’t get to that size by fucking around with 80lb DB’s.

OK what do you guys think. I tried to use less leg strength here and only some momentum from turning my back.

I think its fine but you should be retracting your scapula and hitting 6 reps and up if size is your primary goal. personally i think the 3-5 rep range should never be used.

^^Do you weigh 160 lbs like your profile says?

Why would you never want to do less than 6 reps?

Alright, I have had quite enough of this shit.

You are a 160lbs beginner, stop handing out fucking advice.

Had you not talked shit to Jax in the other thread I would have not responded to you, but you are starting to get irritating.

^^(thats kinda what I was getting at. he should probably tell CT that you cant build muscles with low reps and that the IBB will never work)

.greg.

Everyone talks about Dorian holding the weight at the top, but he really only did that for the machines. Look at him row, he lifts it up explosively and lowers it in a controlled fashion, with no pause at the top. Really, I can’t see how you would do this when using any sort of heavy weight

To the OP, some people notice better results from strict form, some notice better results from looser form. Most notice the best results by using both techniques. Have you been growing? Is your back getting bigger? If not, consider modifying your form.

Perhaps this brings us back to the issue of the weights in the frame?

If the OP can do about 1.5 times the weight I can do, with equal or better form, and for the same number of reps shouldn’t he be at least as big as I am?

Will post pictures soon but OP’s size and the weight in the video do not add up.
I have seen quite a few surprises from beginners/intermediates on this particular exercise. Also note that the OP looks a little thicker in his first vid than the second, although admittedly it is dark and hard to tell.

Anyway, a video equals some instant credit IMO. There is really no basis for calling BS.
In retrospect, stepping on toes in my first 3 or 4 posts was not smart, I admit that and I’m dropping it. But I would not go so far as to say there was " no basis for calling BS ".

What Dorian was recommending was not to actually hold the weight at the top for a sec but rather that if you wanted to do it, you would be able to
