Cortes' Test/Tren/Dbol Run

No weight categories. This is a very small local show (well, it is the entire prefecture, but almost no one competes around here). So I can come in at whatever weight best suits me The typical size of the other competitors is around 70kgs (155lbs), and I am expecting to come in at around 88kgs (195lbs), so there should be a pretty damned significant difference (almost an unfair one), in whomever I am standing next to. That’s why the Japanese have relegated me to the open division, I’m sure. So that I can’t officially place.

Typically, however, Japanese guys’ conditioning is incredible, and, as I’m already not as lean as I’d hoped to be, that’s what I’m really trying to work on right now.

Do you mind posting what your typical diet was for the last few weeks of your show? I would love to come in as lean as you did.

quick question for you cortes…how are the weight categories there? like where does middle end and light heavy start?

i’m just taking a guess looking from your pics and how lean you are at that point i would say if you had the time to get down to the top end of middleweight that would be an advantage for you as you would be right at the top of your weight class…if you were to cut your carbs back just a little bit, like maybe from your 5th meal of the day, and do cardio twice a day 45 minute sessions, your first one on an empty stomach…then maybe 5 to 6 pounds of water…

you’d be close to around 190ish i would say and you would be diced…but i don’t know what your diet is like either so that might not be a possibility…if you were doing a show 3 weeks from now, that is where i would say you would come in at your best, around 190

ya, you look good welavin… got more pics mate?

my diet up until the last two weeks of the show was more or less the same the whole way through, the only thing was that as my weight changed, i cut my carbs back a little bit at a time…when i was down around the 200 lb range this is what my diet was everyday :

meals were spaced approximately 3 hours apart

morning - ECA stack to wake up lol…45 minutes of cardio then

1st meal - 36gram protein powder, 1 cup oatmeal, all just blended up in water, i hate oatmeal so drinking it was my solution to the problem

2nd meal - 5 oz chicken breast, 1 cup brown rice, 1 cup green veggies (usually beans or broccoli)

3rd meal - 5 oz chicken breast, 1 cup brown rice, 1 cup green veggies

4th meal(usually post workout - lifting + 45 minutes of cardio)- 36 grams protein powder, 3/4 cup oatmeal, creatine, glutamine

5th meal - 5 oz chicken breast, 1/2 cup brown rice, 1 cup green veggies

6th meal - 36 gram protein shake

**6 liters of water daily

that was pretty much it up until the last week with the decarbing and carbing up…the key was just cutting the carbs back slowly through the week, like a 1/4 cup of rice/oatmeal here and there depending on what my weight was at…and when you cut your carbs back you have to even them out for the day, like so that your eating pretty much the same amount of carbs at each meal and tapering them off in the evening

i got weak as a kitten doing this diet but i managed to keep what muscle i did have while losing fat…i changed my lifting style to 5 sets of high reps of everything and forgot about the heavy weight, since obviously you’re not going to stay strong or build any size at this point…some guys prefer to do a fat loading diet where they eat like hogs all weekend lol…this works for a lot of guys too, i just found this diet to be fairly affordable first of all and it was something that worked for my body type

Ya… that looks like exactly the sort of thing that works for me too.

I find i do very well from low fat and low GI (and high protein - does it even need saying anymore?!)

JJ

damn that is a lot higher carb then i was goin but then again im a fatass…

Higher carb than I can go, too. I’m jealous. Most of my meals after lunch end up being just chicken and veggies.

Thanks for that info, welavin. It’s good stuff. One more question, since you are on the AAS board here. Did you use AAS in the run-up to that show? If so, do you mind letting us know what compounds and amounts you used, and perhaps how they changed as you approached the show, if they did?

Thanks for all of the good stuff, man. I really appreciate your posting here!.

for the first 6 weeks i was running 500mg of sus and 250 of deca…

last 6 weeks did eod of 100 prop and 50 of winny inj and every 3rd day fast acting deca…and of course nolvadex daily for the last 6 weeks…then cut out the test and deca last week

also the last 6 weeks was taking some liquid clen, .1cc in the morning and .1cc in the evening…did this 2 days on 1 day off, don’t know if that’s right or wrong but it worked out ok, some folks go by weeks on weeks off

think i’m going to change it up a bit this year though, going to stick with the clen for the last 6 weeks but might do a masteron, prop, tren mix for the last 6, going to try some tren next cycle and see how it works out

If the sides don’t get you, you are going to love the tren. And masteron, tren, prop all together, terrific idea, I think. I’ve used all three this cycle but not at the same time, I can only imagine the synergy of combining all three. I hope you’ll stick around here and keep us informed, I’d like to follow that next cycle of yours.

ya will def let you know how that goes…that’s how i found your thread actually, just doing some research for my next cycle which is very similar to yours and judging from the positive progress and results you are having i’m definitely going to be incorporating it in the next one to see how i react to it

I like your dosages man, good work.

You’re looking incredible, buddy:) I’m proud of you just for stepping up and entering your comp. It’s more than most do. Let it be a learning experience. I know that if you get a couple under your belt, you’ll be a force to be reckoned with.

MsM! I was hoping you hadn’t gotten tired of waiting for me to update and left my thread

Thanks a ton for the kind words of encouragement. I hope that I can live up to them.

I also hope that the event itself is worth all of the time, energy, and dieting (ugh) that it takes. Of course I’m sure it will be, but comments like yours and those of all of the other great guys posting here do certainly make the run-up a little bit easier.

Theres many of us still following along buddy even if we arent posting.

Your coming along well and some final tweaking and the water loss should have you coming into the show very well.

It took long enough for the last photos, but some of you two weeks out will be due rather shortly.

I second that motion

Heh. I’m getting called out aren’t I?

All right. 2 weeks out shots it is.

I do appreciate you guys’ support, seriously

3rd- You have come along amazingly since those first pics you posted- Iam talking about before the tan! haha Awsome work Cortes! Looking forward to more pics-

I was worried that I had missed out and you had already had your show. Glad I caught up on the thread in time.

And continuing with the support, you might want to check out the link on this thread( http://www.T-Nation.com/tmagnum/readTopic.do?id=2311005 )…just to give you some routine ideas from someone who has competed and won.

Anymore updates? I’m curious to see how it’s going.

yea get some more fin pics up. you have to be getting close to the show.

Thanks for your continued interest, guys. I’m leaner than I have ever been in my life right now. I have veins running all friggin over the place in my upper body, my chest and even my stomach (!) looks like a relief map covered in rivers. My legs and glutes, unfortunately, seem to like to hold onto fat, and though I can see the striations in my quads and they are coming out nicely, the hamstrings and glutes are still covered in a layer that I don’t think I’ll be able to fully eradicate by contest day. Either way, I am pretty happy with my conditioning. I have, unfortunately, lost a little size, but I’m not sure if it is from carb depletion or actual muscle loss (certainly a bit of both). The invisible abs, incidentally, have become a lot more visible. Turns out that I had more belly fat than I thought I had. Thankfully, that has been (and is still) changing.

I feel a lot better about my posing, not so great about my routine (any hints on that, guys?) I have finally chosen music. I’m going with Radiohead’s The National Anthem, from their Kid A release. Lots of rhythm and base to that and it starts out nice and strong.

I have noticed that the irritability has been ratcheted up to about 4X normal levels as carbs are dropped pretty low (usually around 100-120 grams a day) and I do cardio 2X a day plus a training session in the middle of that. Thank God I have a wonderful, beautiful, patient wife who puts up with my shit and never snaps back at me. She’s a saint.

Also the masteron, test and halotest have combined to give me an annoying breakout of zits on my back and arms and a little on my chest. They are stubborn and don’t want to go away. Not so bad that they are going to ruin my physique, but annoying, to say the least.

As far as pictures go, sorry. I wanted to get the two weeks out shots up, but it isn’t going to happen. I will promise you all that I will get up shots before the show and I will have shots of the show itself up. My business is going nuts (in a very good way), I am in the process of buying a new truck (which is a ridiculous mess, like everything else is, in Japan), and my wife has her own stuff going on amid all of this, so we haven’t been able to get a spare moment to do a “photo shoot.” Again, I promise I’ll get something for you guys here in the next week or so.

Show’s in 10 days!
