Chalk Users: Ball, Block, or Powder?

ive never used chalk and have sweaty palms, so im goin to get some. should i get a ball, block or just powder?
and it seems like chalk is all magnesium carbonate, which happens to be the exact same thing as my magnesium supplement. if i ate either or used either as chalk powder, do you think it would make a difference? just curious, not exactly planning on doing so :stuck_out_tongue:

I bought a ball of chalk, typically made for climbers, bought it at eastern mountain sport for $5, maybe the best investment in lifting ever lol. I keep it in a ziplock bag along with my pen and paper to record a workout.

Honestly I’ve never used anything else but it seems the easiest for a regular commercial gym

I have a block. Basically looks like a bar of soap. I imagine that or a ball would be best for the gym.
I keep it in a ziplock container so it doesn’t make too much of a mess.

I got 8 2 oz blocks for 15$, it’s gonna last awhiiiile

ok for these solid shapes, does the chalk apply easily? like roll it around in your hands for 2 seconds and its done, or do i have to write on my hand like a chalkboard?

Try rubbing one out before you get to the gym so your hands are a little sticky

i use powder u just pick some up in your hand rub it in 3 seconds and done keep it in a little tupper wear container. makes no real difference i imagine.

Its chalk. If you want, buy the block and crush it up.

This is not a complicated issue. I use blocks to rub around my knees to hold the knee wraps on, or on my hands, across my back for squatting etc.

Just buy whatever is the cheapest. This isn’t rocket science.

I just use regular school chalk. Real cheap and works fine.

I ground it up and put it in a big can.

One of the the perks of lifting at home I guess.

I prefer the ball or block. One time when I had powder the container I kept it in broke inside of my gym bag and got everywhere. It was awesome considering my shirt and shorts are black.
