Thanks Idaho! Staying sharp has been tested CONSTANTLY with my car insurance. From top to bottom its become completely clear they have no intention of handling this competently. They intend to bully me to submission.
To start they had offered a settlement for my car. I accepted this, the day I sent in the paperwork hours later the police found my car. I informed the
insurance agents of this and they instantly reneged on my settlement. That’s part one. I had done EVERYTHING they told me to do including sending my title, other legal documents, and all copies of keys.
Part two. The found car was sent to a tow yard. It was undriveable- no gas- and I had no keys because they were mailed to my insurance. The claims guy went ahead and inspected it and deemed the damages were all cosmetic- IE a $150 detail cleaning was all that was needed. I asked him if he had started it, he said, well no I don’t have the keys. I said what if it doesn’t start??? He sied I can have it inspected then by a mechanic. He held firm in his appraisal though, insisting I had been lucky. He did say he noticed a new battery under the hood and made sure to tell me this.
It should be mentioned that to start this conversation with me he just HAD to comment on how strange my name is and wanted to joke with me about it.
Not very professional for talking to someone about the status of her only car, that had been stolen and missing for over 2 and half weeks and who had paid for comprehensive coverage on her 19 year old car for 11 years with the company he worked for because if it was stolen it would devastated her home financial status. Let’s joke with her first–about her name.
He then submitted this claim for damages, he took pictures of the inside and outside of the car. Without even starting the car.
While battling the first part of the problem they car was in the tow yard for 4 days. Day five comes and they ask me to get a place to tow it too. I give them the addres of where I wanted it towed. The tow company meanwhile calls my cell phone 4 times while I’m at work and unable to get the call.
They leave a voicemail. The tow company had been directed to pick ME up at an address I had no clue about thinking I needed emergency road side assistance and not a tow from a tow yard. The claims agent had arranged ALL of this. He had contacted the tow company.
I tell them no, its at a tow yard. They can’t find the tow yard!!! I’m at work on my cell phone looking it up for them on google maps!!! The claims agent should have told them the address!!! The tow company should have know where tow yards are in town!!!
Because of this mix up the drivers run out of time to tow the car, the tow yard was closed. So in my insurance eyes they keep this
“totally fine” perfectly driavable car from a customer another day–
its now been well over 3 weeks–because they can’t give the right directions to a tow company.
Also during this time when the tow guys are calling me at work, my insurance is calling me too. I missed 2 calls then answered one. The insurance agent was asking me to give direction to HER for my car’s tow yard!!! They all work at the same agency!! Why am I telling her where my car is!! She had been called by the tow company while they were looking for me on the side of the road thinking I was on the side of the road!
It was then re scheduled for tow for the next day- yesterday - at 1pm. My claims agent had directed me to text him about issues and I did. I texted him the whole time the tow company was confused about where my car was. he did not answer. Not unprofessional texts, but asking him to call the tow guys! I was at work!
He finally answered my texts yesterday asking if they picked up the car. I told him no, that I had contacted HIM about this and he probably needs to contact the tow company again over this. He texts back “ok I will”.
The car gets to where I wanted it- a residence and they unload it off the truck. The first thing my sister sees is the thieves had pulled out part of the fuses under the steering wheel! She opens the hood and checks the oil–NO OIL! It was dripping oil on the tow truck! She notices MANY things–just by looking at it!
My claims guy had eyes too but negledcted to see a bunch of messed up fused pull out??? Under the steering wheel?? The undercarriage was messed up too, they had driven over something and pulled part of the rear wheel. These were all seen before turning the keys in the car- which the car did not start. The fuses were blown.
The claims guy tried to close him claim! For finding what he say, $150 worth of detailing to clean the inside needing to be done.
I instantly call him. I get his voicemail saying he is out of the office today and friday–he texted me hours before this. I call him again. I call him again. He calls back and in a seriously aggressive voice says he’s received 3 calls from this number and who is it?!! This is the number he gave me to call!
He gets combative with me when I tell him about the condition of the car, starting it off by slaying he’s not in the office today. Why did he text me then? How am I supposed to know this unless I call him!? He tells me I need to call another agent who is handling this while he is out of the office. By this time its 3:45p. I call this other guy to arrange an inspection and of course get voicemail twice. And of course he doesn’t call back.
I’ve called him twice already today in business hours. No word back still. I plan on calling every 30 minutes. Its Friday and seeing how these chumps operate I bet they are going to push me off until closing hours today and then I’ll be stuck again in this limbo until Monday.
In the mean time the paperwork I had sent in was not returned to me with my keys. I called to ask why and they agent says he doesn’t know–I later realize it he was the one who sent the stuff back to me! I asked for it back and he replies they might not have it! These are documents that are important!!! He is the one who sent it!! And they just loose it???
In the mean time I’ve contacted the state regulatory agency over all of this. I’ve filed a complaint, I have an agent working with me on this. I’m keepig copiaus records.
This has been a big enough hassle for me but I KNOW that this company has done to others before who did not know to fight back --or where to overwhelmed and exhausted!-for what the services and insurance they have paid for.
Besides the completely railroading effect on someones’ life loosing a car, the guys you’ve paid for years to cover this are incompetent, or just flat out not doing their job. And using bullying tactics, aggressively changing tone whenever you try and push for what you paid for!
I’m not giving up. This is so stupid. At first it really over whelmed me and I felt powerless, now seeing all the fuck ups I’m just pissed. And I won’t roll over on this.
