t bar carry empty/77# out of my car and up 3 stories to my apartment
also same for 2 45# plates! Last week I did the same for my 100# sandbag, outta the car and into the apartment it went.

MAN it feels good! I moved my squat rack into the bedroom where its tucked away. Moved the bars and equipment that I can now store under my bed or in my closet since I have access to gyms!

The t bar was put back inside because as happy as I am that the field is there to use, its a major pain in the ass to get to it to DO the carries. Its down a path, around a corner…blah blah. Now that 24 hour is open, I’m going to do them there and so far the Underground gym has been ok to do them too. The padded rubber gym floor feels way better too then the un-level grass.

I also could use some more grip training! My forearms from Thursday’s not heavy but heavier then I’ve been doing for nearly a year carries made me realize that! I’ll figure something out.

I wanted to log that it was no big deal at 24 hour too since hopefully this shutdown won’t happen again…so the experience will be novel. The reservation thing wasn’t hard to get a spot in. NO one made me wear a mask, it was jsut normal. Like I expected- and most regulars to gyms will tell you, its never packed unless its at 5-6pm after work.

Even then there is room, 24 hour fitness just does not have the clients who pack the place the entire time its open, its not that type of gym. 24 hour fitness’s are usually at least the size of a super market too so there is plenty of space and never full capacity. Now the body builder gym I used to go to? That place would be like a night club at peak time and weekends, absolutely could be full.

I went at 5am yesterday and it was already open! Which is great and makes me think that there is a chance it will eventually open up earlier, or even go back to the 24 hour schedule.

I’m going to keep my membership to the Underground gym as long as I can swing it financially too. Its a different type of vibe inside, the equipment is more strength focused vs general use like 24 hour has. AND …my goodness…I’ve been able to use it ALONE!!! All in all I’m feeling very grateful and lucky this Covid Disruption to my daily hobby is now far more manageable.

I’m not parting with ANY of my own gym equipment though! If I was a hoarder before I am now a Dragon guarding her pot of gold ( all now happily tucked away, aesthetically pleasingly set back from the need of daily use!) when it comes to my homes gym stuff.

That’s that! I did not list the 320 deadlift I couldn’t budge form the floor. I am not as strong as I was! And…I’m not butt hurt over it.

I DID notice hauling a 90# dog out of isolation yesterday that it was harder then it used to be for me. To give myself credit I also had a mask on ( STUPID MASKS!!) , an isolation gown, and the dog was a collie/Shepard mix who was long, floppy, big bely full of fluid or air or both, who, was going agonal, and dead weight. STILL! I noticed it was harder for me!!

I’m no spring chicken…but I am also not an old fart! I can’t blame it on that! I can “blame” my change of mind frame to a point though. I know if I want to get strong again, and push that lever to go bananas I can and its in me to do that…I also know I don’t require it to feel like a worthwhile person anymore. The not such a far leap from desperation to inspiration type thing.

Goes the same for my interactions with people. Supervisor has been on and off with her ( and another supervisor of mine too! who’s superviosr of the current supervisor !) antics of mild disrespect for me.

My need to be someone who causes no problems and is super easy to deal ( because if I DID cause trouble I’d be ditched, replaced, fill in the blank) with has been replaced with that side eye, squinting, stiff upper lip gristled person who’s tired of it. You Son of a Bitch!! :D!!!

Confrontation is now not so scary even if it results potentially devastating crumbling of a friendship, relationship, whatever. I do not care if they “like” me less as I don’t depend on it to feel good about myself anymore. I am more ruthless in my guardianship of how I am treated.

Because …I like to be alone anyways. Dead wt friends, people who don’t really like you, but what you do for them. NAH, I’ve done my time with that business.

I woke up at 3:45 today which gave me a few options and some tradeoffs. Besides getting 10 hours of great sleep, I had to choice between these for my workout:

  • Option 1: log lifting at home, but rushed and then go to 24 hour for tbar carries- I REALLY like that combination of oh pressing and then wt in hands type carries for a good upper back/trap attack. So much so I tend to get obsessive about it, compulsively doing this combo ( feeling bad/guilty if I don’t) since it feels so good/hard/efforted.

If I chose that option, I would have to rush the oh stuff. I also risked the fact that there will be people there at the gym, and the possibility that I would not have the space available to do the actual carries since others will be doing who knows what there in the big gym. Same thing goes for if I went to he Underground gym too, I know that 4am is when people go there, and for sure 5am-6am the owners lift everyday.

  • Option 2: log lift at home and take my time, and also since its later in the morning do sandbag loading instead of carries! Being after 6am by the time I get to the sandbags, its late enough for me to do them in my upstairs apartment and not annoy my downstairs neighbor.

With this option I’d not have the upper back attack pump/feed my compulsions with the carries after. I also would be alone to lift, GUARANTEED.

A Bonus factor to include in my decisions, is luckily its not a million degrees so a later Malibu walk after the sun comes up is possible. Should it have been hot, I’d have to cut the time on both the options of lifting in order to get my girl out safely and it not be a heat stroke risk.

I chose option 2! Topped the cake with a seamless Bad Ass Bu-Berry Walk after the lifts!

Once upon a time someone told me everyone( male or female) should - meant in a way to mean it would not be a hard feat to obtain, but require a bit of training and more like “You should be able to run a mile” or as in a fairly strong person- be able to clean their body wt…LIES! Cleans are HARD for the long monkey armed!!!

I bet that person also says a bw bench “should”( meant in the same context of needing SOME training but not a ton) be relatively achievable for anyone ( male or female) too. Well, you can keep your proportional bias’s to yourself! I am way to old of a lifter to believe them!

There is no “should” for anyone! LOG cleans are easier for me then bb cleans for sure, but a bw clean of ANY type I’d be very proud of! So far I’m 10 # away!

Kinda like the traing of thought where “should” live…not all dogs woudl le tyou do what I do in my apartment !! I never thought I’d have a dog who was as good of a girl as My Bu Berry! I think its easy to take for granted just how wonderful a good dog it…unless you’ve had a difficult dog. I was lucky to grow up with good dogs, and only really knew how hard somethings can be from my own personal difficult dog experience. Not all dogs “should” be able to let their owners lift in the house without getting crazy, in the way, or losing it.

Its not always something you can train in a dog either, or train EASILY, and some dogs will never be able to do that. Its just not in their temperament. My Girl can, My Girl DOES, my Girl LETS ME!!!

A dog who does this is not a gurentee either. A dog who let’s me give her cute blankets and beds , that won’t eat them too!

Not every dog has that ability to let you give them a bed!!! I don’t begrudge the ones who just can’t handle it and will eat everything, but MAN is it nice to be able to see your dog sleep in a comfy bed!!!

If you are a strongman fan like me, you might like check out Big Loz’s channel. Lately he’s had a ton of talks with strongman folk! I think My favorite so far is this one. He’s coming to grips with retiring as a strongman and him taking about it is also in a way helpful for me who’s a retired crazy/banannas lifter. One toe always in…yet knowing it time to let it go and still enjoy what you can do for the right reasons.

Or the Colin Bryce’s one! Colin Bryce cracks me up! He has a “mad” voice as the English say. Loz has had a bunch on. Martin’s, Poundstone, Caron, Pritchet, any strongman fan might want to check his channel out if you haven’t. its fun to listen to!

I can’t really explain it precisely- my right leg just did not want to “fire” I guess even thought its a joint and not a muscle. I just got this feeling not to trust it!

I started to do a bit of a shift to the left side to support the wt and I thought, Nah, non of this business. So I started over. Its very strange! Its not painful at all, I just get this sensation- more like a realization I guess because there is no feeling involved- that my knee won’t hold. very odd.

I’m lift on an empty stomach if I can help it, since I prefer lifting first thing in the morning.

Anywho…there were about 10 free pizzas at work yesterday, even better since they had been in the fridge and where a few days old which I prefer cold pizza…just there…waiting for me to eat them at work! I remembered I was tired instead of hungry so hard boiled eggs it was instead. A win. Kinda?! HA HA!!!

That’s that! Felt good! Have you ever thought of yourself, how you used to be, and be …so mad? I have. Lately I have been thinking about the Old me with the New Me’s eyes and for fucks sake am I …so angry at her.

I know I know-- yet I know I hold grudges…And I am fighting the grudge vs myself. there are no people around my inner life to hold me to the Old Me’s ways so …Its so pointless!

I’ve changed a lot but I’ve always been honest. Part of being a person who has no self worth takes that ability away to be conniving- you think you are too stupid to do it! I was too desperate for anything but honesty. So looking back on Old Me , old me’s experiences, her choices, thought process, and her relationships…I just…I get so digested is the BEST word.

I heard a lecture once about people with anorexia. This was from Jordan Peterson actually who is a clinical psychologist. Its so hard to understand the motivations behind someone how does what anorexic people do, but what he thought was it was a sense of self disgust. For me it absolutely was!

I know I have that in me, to be disgusted by people. This oh so nice, sweet, gentle person who I paraded to be knew all along I was ( and still am…I still am!) capable of severe repugnance and disgust for a person, most notably the person who I am/was.

Its not a lie that as forgiving ( pushover/doormat) as I have been to people I am unforgiving with myself, so was I ever really a nice person? Do I even have a reason to be proud of any of those relationships, or choices? I don’t think so…not the ones I prioritized. They were all based on the wrong thing–and they also are all over, are now gone. Every one of them.

I can do it to myself - be unforgiving and hold a grudge- and I can do it to others…and I have. Lately I most certainly have! As nice as I seem I am a also a real hard ass.

If you can forgive others you really need to give yourself a break and forgive who you were. As long as you are making progress on improving yourself that’s all anyone can ask. Many people don’t even see any need for self improvement so they never start on the path.

Malibu Walk! Moon shine! Love the big moon in the morning, full on moon shadows whiel we were out. I saw a mega raccoon today on top of my dumpster. I enjoy these lil encounters of the creature kind- he was super chill about it. This time I did not shriek in terror like the lat raccoon encounter- last time they supersized me!

Then I had some plans out ot town and toko the opposrtunit to do some gym tourism! Went to a 24 hour in another town! They have differnat stepmills that are pretty cool, very sleek but with a million hand rails onthem so it was a bit tight!
