I woke up at 3:45 today which gave me a few options and some tradeoffs. Besides getting 10 hours of great sleep, I had to choice between these for my workout:
- Option 1: log lifting at home, but rushed and then go to 24 hour for tbar carries- I REALLY like that combination of oh pressing and then wt in hands type carries for a good upper back/trap attack. So much so I tend to get obsessive about it, compulsively doing this combo ( feeling bad/guilty if I don’t) since it feels so good/hard/efforted.
If I chose that option, I would have to rush the oh stuff. I also risked the fact that there will be people there at the gym, and the possibility that I would not have the space available to do the actual carries since others will be doing who knows what there in the big gym. Same thing goes for if I went to he Underground gym too, I know that 4am is when people go there, and for sure 5am-6am the owners lift everyday.
- Option 2: log lift at home and take my time, and also since its later in the morning do sandbag loading instead of carries! Being after 6am by the time I get to the sandbags, its late enough for me to do them in my upstairs apartment and not annoy my downstairs neighbor.
With this option I’d not have the upper back attack pump/feed my compulsions with the carries after. I also would be alone to lift, GUARANTEED.
A Bonus factor to include in my decisions, is luckily its not a million degrees so a later Malibu walk after the sun comes up is possible. Should it have been hot, I’d have to cut the time on both the options of lifting in order to get my girl out safely and it not be a heat stroke risk.
I chose option 2! Topped the cake with a seamless Bad Ass Bu-Berry Walk after the lifts!

Once upon a time someone told me everyone( male or female) should - meant in a way to mean it would not be a hard feat to obtain, but require a bit of training and more like “You should be able to run a mile” or as in a fairly strong person- be able to clean their body wt…LIES! Cleans are HARD for the long monkey armed!!!
I bet that person also says a bw bench “should”( meant in the same context of needing SOME training but not a ton) be relatively achievable for anyone ( male or female) too. Well, you can keep your proportional bias’s to yourself! I am way to old of a lifter to believe them!
There is no “should” for anyone! LOG cleans are easier for me then bb cleans for sure, but a bw clean of ANY type I’d be very proud of! So far I’m 10 # away!

Kinda like the traing of thought where “should” live…not all dogs woudl le tyou do what I do in my apartment !! I never thought I’d have a dog who was as good of a girl as My Bu Berry! I think its easy to take for granted just how wonderful a good dog it…unless you’ve had a difficult dog. I was lucky to grow up with good dogs, and only really knew how hard somethings can be from my own personal difficult dog experience. Not all dogs “should” be able to let their owners lift in the house without getting crazy, in the way, or losing it.
Its not always something you can train in a dog either, or train EASILY, and some dogs will never be able to do that. Its just not in their temperament. My Girl can, My Girl DOES, my Girl LETS ME!!!
