I cook in bulk and weigh the pieces as I eat them. If you bought a steak and ate it all then there’s no reason to convert.
I buy 5-7 lbs of chicken in a pack and cook all of it. I used to just divide the ounces by the pieces and average it out (6 lbs, 8 pieces, 12 ounces per piece) since I ate it all but that doesn’t work now that my kids eat it.
So so mate
Have been pretty busted up as of late after the lengthened but well needed volume phase and I’ve been teetering near the edge for a while but since my goals have shifted from BB to strength based work, I needed to get the body right before I go full on for it.
Have still be at it, but low volume, low weight low intensity. Nothing that would do anything, but actively rolling, icing certain areas and compression aswell
Haven’t ever really elaborated at lengths about how my life rolls regarding my day to day pain levels before but in a lack of knowledge I suppose if it’s a medical condition or if it normal for a 24 year old, but I still suffer pretty heavy growing pains, especially in my legs and hips.
I’ve grown another 2 cms since my last measure, and whenever I get those spouts then everything kinda gets put on hold because the last few times I’ve tried to push through and train/play sports, I’ve: torn ankle ligaments, blown achillies tendons or injured my biceps.
At the moment I’m really trying to get my left ankle, right knee, hips/SI joint and right bicep good before I start my next little phase, and everything is improving day by day but hence if you’ve seen my advice to anyone when it comes to injuries and recovery, I speak from experience that it’s not wise to turn a blind eye of try fight through pain.
So yeah, no point really logging what I’m doing at the moment because it would look painful, tedious and boring
It would just be like,
FRIDAY AM
30 minutes : rolling around on the floor with a foam roller on my left buttock, a towel rolled up and layed under my spine, and my right leg elevated on a chair at 90 degrees screaming in agony
Morbid words from master woo-woo
If it’s any consolation, I feel 55 today
Scratch that, more like 95😂
I actually knelt down after hoping out of my van about an hour ago and stayed there for a good 5 minutes because of the pain it’s legs are currently in
Dunno about you, but that pre payed plot is sounding better and better every day
Damn Jez that sounds really annoying.
Over how long time does these spouts go? and how often? I mean you can’t grow 2 cm every year.
Well hope you’ll be back soon lifting some weights and moving some stones.
Gonna be fun to watch the voyage.
Mate that sucks and I really feel for you. I have had just a fking cold all week and all I want to do is roll into a ball, you are doing well just to keep moving day to day. Hope it get better for you soon and if you ever want to throw those 2 cm somewhere else there’s a short old man down here that could use them.
Last spout of growth was in August, and before that was January, I’ve grown 5cms total this year now
Thanks for the kind wishes mate, I appreciate it
Believe me, I can’t wait til I’m full tilt at it, I have a pretty decent slog designed that’ll carry me on for a few months but there is just no way I could keep it at the intensity it deserves in my current state
Damn, man. 24 and still growing. I guess on the plus side that means you haven’t hit your peak yet. I remember growing and catching up, growing and catching up. The catching up part was slow but it was awesome. That’s when I finally filled out a bit. Maybe you still have some muscle growth spurts in your future.
That’s why I mentioned if I’m not if it’s medical related or not
I doubt I have gigantism or anything
Plus (humble brah) I don’t look like one of them huge freaks with elongated limbs and deformed faces
I’ve seen endos before and they haven’t mentioned it so take it with a grain of salt but if I continue to grow, it may be an avenue I’ll have to look down
I don’t think there is a set age that growing stops. My understanding is that we stop growing when our growth plates close which can be later is some people. I am guessing but you can probably get a dr to test if your growth plates have closed or not.
Yeah, I doubt there are any issues. A friend of my grandfather’s had Acromegaly, but that is middle aged adult onset typically.
Just read an article on this - while most males stop growing by the age of 18, it’s not uncommon to continue to grow up until the age of 27. Apparently an x-ray can tell if your growth plates have closed.
I grew until I was 20, a little uncommon. I don’t think this is an issue at all. My previous comment was prior to reading the article, think you should disregard it.
Our body is constantly breaking down and rebuilding. In bones there is constant osteoclast activity which means the bone is being broken down or removed. When we’re young and growing that is countered with osteoblast activity which lays down new bone. It just refreshes our bones and strengthens them. Once we stop growing we have to do things to initiate the osteoblast activity. Walking, running, lifting weights, putting stress on the body is what does this. If you don’t do this then you’ll experience osteoporosis. That’s why squats and overhead pressing can be so beneficial for people with that problem. It loads basically everything and it can strengthen the entire skeleton (you have to be careful though).
In @anon96032531’s case, his body is still cruising along and growing. I say let it go (not like you have a choice). It’s a blessing (kind of). We grow until we stop, but then we start to die, slowly.
I grew a couple of inches in my early twenties, but it was “only” up to 6’3" so it wasn’t quite as dramatic. Not necessarily abnormal especially if you’ve seen an endo.
