Are you fucking serious? Did you watch the video? I could takee my rowing weight and treble it lifting like that, BUT WHY THE HELL WOULD YOU ACTUALLY WANT TO LOL?? It’s not going to give you a bigger back and thats what this forums about right… bodybuilding??? Holy bad advice batman.

Only the person doing the exercise knows his body, how it’s responded to various exercises over years. Whatever he does, out of preference, experience or necessity, if it gives him the results he’s after, forget about everything else.

Reading into the motivations of why someone’s doing an exercise a certain way is stupid if you don’t know.

I saw a guy doing sets of 8 with 140 kg on the bench for 40 minutes straight. He must have totalled near 100 reps. He was fairly developed in the upper body, but had lagging legs.

Now, i could have though ’ typical bench press retard who ignores legs’ or I could ask him. Which I did. Turns out he’d just had back surgery and wa just getting back into training. he loved the bench press, had great technique, and so he did alot of it.

I asked him why he didn’t ramp up the weight instead, and he said he was happy with his chest development, which he should be, and just wanted to maintain and do that lift.

What I don’t understand is this: I honestly ask for advice. If you feel superior, that your technique of lifting a bar with iron on it is superior to mine, by all means, help me see how I can do it better. When you repeatedly read into the motivation as to why, and seem to have a need to pick on how I do it and compare yourself…You just come off as insecure.

I think everyone is right on this thread, as it depends on the muscle group you’re planning on focusing on. The OP’s form is OK, but he may get better results if he is able to lower the weight and pull it all the way up to his abs and squeeze his shoulder blades together. It all depends on what he’s trying to target.

Damn, I love that vid of Robert Burneika, the guy is a beast… I like his approach to lifting with the short ROM, as he’s maintaining stress on specific muscle groups (e.g. the pecs in his press). Friggin’ awesome vid…

Perfect example. For those that still don’t get it, take a close look at his rowing technique. Watch carefully how his form is geared towards maximizing the contraction of the muscle group being worked. Pay particular attention to how he draws his upper body down to the bar at the top of the movement.

If that still qualifies as ‘cheating’ in your mind, you need a new one. Or you just lack the observational skills/ experience to tell the difference.

and that’s what people have done, given you their honest opinion on your form AND shown you where you are going wrong. You want to talk about insecure? It sounds like you are insecure about the fact you probably need to use half of what you are using now to actually use your back to lift it for a full productive rep.
