Advice for Protien Shake!

hey all-

I need some help with my protein shakes.
Im currently using:
1/4 cup plain yogurt
1 cup milk
1 banana
3 scoops of EAS protein powder(40g protein)

That adds up to around: 680 calories, 60g protein, 30g carbs

My quesiton is: how can i add more carbs? just add more fruits?

Any other stuff i can put to make it more pakced with goods?

The one your making looks fine. I use:

1/2 cup frozen berries
1 Banana
Milk
2 scoops of Protein Powder (EAS actually)
1 raw egg on occasion (makes the shake thicker and adds protein)

Throw whatever you like in there really. Just remember that their designed to be supplemental and not as a replacement to real food.

you can buy maltrodextrin or dextrose in powder form and put them in there. Waxy maize is another. All good carb sources.

Also you can do the obvious and just increase the amount of stuff you are already putting in there. 60g of protein is plenty, supposedly you can’t even digest that much at once but idk if that’s true or not.

If this is a post workout shake, I prefer mine to have a 2:1 carb:protein ratio. So if you are sticking with 60 protein I’d suggest around 100-120 carbs. That might be overkill for you, but that’s how I do things.

Add some ice cream.

I’m serious. Adds calories, adds texture, adds flavor, tastes great, and with some protein powder makes a fast absorbing shake that is fantastic for anyone trying to gain mass.

haha i’m trying to stick to “healthy” food, and dont really want sweets in it. Plus with the banana and yogurt, the drink is already really sweet, so ice cream is just too much. lol

Well, i want to make this a meal replacement drink and just adjustment the stuff a bit for postworkout drink.
I’ll prlly add some more fruits like strawberries or somthing.

Ice cream’s not that bad for you.

You could add some coconut milk if you’re hell bent on getting more cals without ice cream, it adds a great texture and flavor.

Ok, I just made a shake. Come along on a magic calorie-laden adventure with uncle Brant.

Step one, protein powder.

Add the damn ice cream. It’s good for you.

More protein! Eggs and cottage cheese!

More protein and carbs! Milk and fruit!

Time for fat and flavor.

How about adding oats???

More fat and “flavor.”

Then drink yourself a shake and feel them muscles Grow!

hahaha don’t mind the bourbon! You should call that shake “The Anabolic Buzz”

lol.

haha yea no need for the bourbon, don’t need to be tipsy when lifting

why the hell hasn’t anyone mentioned peanut butter yet? i usually do something like ice, whole milk, 2 scoops whey, banana, oats, blueberries, peanut butter, and a few eggs just for good measure. oh and thumbs up on the ice cream if you are trying to gain weight.
