Then maybe he should try staying on topic. How is that “baiting” me?

I am assuming because of what the name Larry Hoover is associated with. He was the founder of the Gangsta Disciples in Chicago. I watch a lot of Gangland on discovery ha, plus he’s from Mississippi so I had heard of him before that. And maybe he just screwed it up innocently but didn’t really seem that way to me, think he was trying to get you off on an “all black people are thugs” tangent.

Wouldn’t that make him the racist in that scenario?

So who got baited again?

Why should he? You’re only a level 5, not a level 100.

You do realize you’re now “hijacking the thread”?

And then “someone” will pull out the old “this is Prof X’s debating strategy for beginners” list previously compiled by Gregron again, and your “friends” will pop back out of the woodwork the minute you talk about how you “overcame great odds to build enough muscle to make people gasp in awe, blah blah”,… eventually culminating in a “Seriously X, you’re a mature grown professional, why are you so bothered when people act like this, and do you react like this in real life” speech from another “someone”.

Seriously, why go back down that road? Just out of curiosity.

Yes, either racist or a troll. And no one got baited. The attempt annoyed me (as well as flip I think) because every damn thing on here seems to come back to race and when something isn’t and someone tries to make it such, its good for no one.

It’s Larry ALLEN. Who is Hoover? Never heard of him. Who does he play for? You must not follow football too closely…

Lol, I got it. I think he was making a veiled reference to the Prison Lifting thread. With Larry Hoover serving time as a criminal.

this is my fav video.

this guy needs to stick with one goal like legitly bench 600-700 without a shirt and more than a 2 inch ROM

i just don’t understand why he goes from 700 or 800 or whatever he did in the video and couldn’t even properly do that then try to bust out 1000 and get made to look like douche

I am a little worried that trying something like that now makes you a douche.

I’m surprised you like watching that sort of thing. I don’t even like to think about that type of thing happening. I guess I just never have had a real sense of humor on those types of things. Just good thing he wasn’t hurt.

so your telling me that if you go to the gym everyday and you see the same kid almost barely bench pressing 200 pounds everyday for 30 days and still not really getting it then on the 31st day trying to bench press 400 and having the bar almost kill you you wouldn’t think that person was a douche? this is pretty much the same.

I am a very empathetic person, but for some reason lack much empathy for people who do VERY dumb shit or play with death and then get a strong dose of reality in the end.

No, I think most on here are telling you that you are a douche. Your scenario is BS, just like most of your questions, and most of your comments.

How does 200lbs sound anything like 600lbs?

There are people strong enough day one in the gym to press 200lbs. It takes YEARS to work up to doing over 600lbs and no one is doing it or even unracking the weight without being stronger than 95% of the population.

The only thing douchy about this scenario is calling people names because they try something that most people could never do even if they tried.

That doesn’t make him a douche. If you had any experience moving that kind of weight, you would know the balls it takes just to get under it.

I’ve read his posts and to be honest, he seems more like a complete beginner with little to no “awareness” as yet, and who’s just trying hard to “fit in” with the other posters by spouting off what he thinks is the “right lingo/jargon”.

I agree. I am pretty confident that the guy trying those bench presses is not doing this as his main workout. I am picturing that this is something he does on occasion to get that amount of weight in his hands while under the bar.

most on here? 4 people you mean? maybe 6? your still old and are unimpressive. what are your goals? to look decent before your 50. have fun with your midlife crisis

That’s one of my goals…“good” being a relative term in my case. And that was a very douchey thing to type.

I don’t think you guys understand how geared powerlifting really looks with some people. It is routine for dudes to go for shirted benches ridiculously out of their league, because they are professionally good at deluding themselves and pretending they’re stronger than they really are.

They will bomb out catastrophically on bench, failing their opener three times in a row. These are guys sometimes benching 800+. You’d be surprised how strong some of these dudes are. It’s still stupid of them, and yes, it makes them a douche. Not only because they are making fools of themselves, but because it’s fucking dangerous. It’s dangerous to the spotters and to themselves. I’ve seen dudes taking weights so far out of their league they almost immediately throw it straight back in their shirt (just like the video) and nearly cave their skulls in.

When Mendy first hit his 1000, he had taken it multiple days each week in the gym for weeks. I’m not saying that’s the best way to train or peak, but that’s what he did, and I can fucking promise you guys like Tiny and Kennelly made sure they were very prepared before attempting such a feat. They didn’t always make it, and they had some bad failures, but they always had at least a chance and they weren’t just bullshitting themselves. If you haven’t gone over 800 in the gym, you have no business putting others in danger and potentially killing yourself in front of an audience trying to take 1000. I don’t care how much stronger they are than me, that’s just fact, and I think that does make them a douche.
