This guy should put together some workout videos with Kali Muscle. They could one-up each other until they were benching 1,200, pulling 1,500 and squatting 2,000…for reps.

Yeah, what? How does a vid of him having a 10 yard head start on a dude, who if he wasn’t riding the sideline would’ve BURNED him, have anything to do with him not benching what he claims? You literally just proved my “fanboy” point.

Uhhh, yeah. I posted a video of him benching 7 HUNDO POUNDO’s. It seems to me that, yes it was assisted. By how much? I don’t know. I think he could have hit 6 HUNDO without any help for sure, and no one can say with 100% certainty that he couldn’t hit 6 HUNDO. So fuck it I posted another video of him doing something extremely impressive that can’t be denied, just for the hell of it. I’ve been trying to find a video from when he set the record of reps with 225 but it seems that the video was removed? Can’t find it. But, I do know when he set the record with something like 43(?) reps with 2-HUNDO+25lbs he looked to have even more in the tank.

All natural, with ramen noodles and whip cream thrown in there somewhere.

The LB was running full speed while Allen was standing still. Allen did not have a 10 yard head start in any way. Yes, he had the angle. Yes, in a straight race the LB could beat him. But, the only thing you have proven to me is you have no clue what bad ass looks like. That was bad ass, and very fucking impressive. I get it though, it wasn’t a slam dunk on a basketball goal.
Calm down fella. Never said it wasn’t impressive. Said it has literally nothing to do with him benching, which it didn’t. For the record, I passed up a tryout for an Arena League team several years back. I respect what goes on out there. Doesn’t change that you come across as a total fanboy.
I am calm Dude. Your comment gave a pretty strong impression that you didn’t think it was impressive. I am not sure what you are meaning by “fanboy”? I am a fan of football. But the way you are calling me “a total fanboy” is coming across to me as disrespectful.
LMFAO at “hundo” and “hubdo”. I am going to use these two internet terms from now on. I used to use “hunnit”, like “tree hunnit” or “faw hunnit” or “fie hunnit”.
Larry Allen was as strong as shit. He pressed 225 41 times in the lineman strongman competition in 2006. He can’t do 700, or 675 for that matter. I think he could hit 650. But I did hear that before he was drafted scouts saw him bench 700 and squat 900.
I bet Anthony Munoz could move some weight. I remember they had a “strength machine” than was a computerized machine that tested your strength like something out of Rocky 4 in the 1980s.
Munoz broke it.

“Hubdo” was a typo on my part. Meant “hundo”, but my thumb slipped and I didn’t catch it 'til after it went through. It is kinda catchy, in a “moar!!!” kinda way.

Legit lift! I mean did you hear the grunting and the bending of the folding chair? My aunt is 900lbs and the same chair bends the same way

He would be lucky to hit 600. Look how much help he had to have on 635. No way in hell he hits 650.

I’d say he’s likely in the mid 5’s. That’s still strong as hell, but he just plain isn’t a 600 lb bencher.

Yeah, I wasn’t really trying to insinuate that a mid-500 bench isn’t hella strong but that 600+ bench group is a fairly elite group of human beings. There aren’t many of them.

I’m sure he could join the club for a 600 raw bench if he trained for it. But yeah, just not in it yet.
Cool. Glad we got that straightened out. He isn’t a 6 Hondo bencher. Maybe mid 5 hundo. Got it

I’m as much a fan of Allen as anybody, and I think it’s kinda strange that WhiteFlash continued to fire shots about the on-the-field video. I mean, Allen was a shoe-in first ballot HOF’er for a reason. Arguably the greatest lineman in NFL history, and absolutely one of the most athletic guys at his size who has played the game. On-field footage of him is mesmerizing.
But I’m with everybody else on the bench press. I think RRJC mentioned that, with a powerlifting focus, Allen could have been a 600 bench presser, and likely much more than that. The video, in my opinion, does not indicate that he has that level of strength. I think a lot of people underestimate the assistance that sort of spot gives, especially from 3 spotters. It’s not even remotely a knock on Allen.
I’m not sure any NFL athlete has been a 600 pound bench presser. Chris Snee is widely regarded as the strongest bench presser in the game today, and he’s been quoted as saying “my coach brags that I can press 615”. This could certainly be an exaggeration, or a similarly assisted lift.

After watching the vid, yeah 650 is gonna be a no. But I think he could hit 600. When was that video done? Was that a “prime” Larry Allen? And if he trained for bench, he could be an elite powerlifter I’m sure. The dude was raw explosive, and I hated the Cowboys.
I mean, I’m not a PLer… but look at his set up. His grip looks way too damn narrow too. Long arms are a disadvantage for him too (but sure as hell not as a lineman).

That was an impressive play by Allen, but the best part was Dierdorf fawning over it calling it the greatest play he’s ever seen - a term he uses at least twice in every game he covers …
