He tore his lat years ago but has been able to somewhat hide it with how he poses certain shots. It appears to be a little more noticeable now which is unfortunate.
I think Kai Greene will come in top 2. I’m not really a fan of Kai but after they screwed up his conditioning in 2009 and he came in with less muscle mass than he should have had, I think they (Kai and his mentor) have learned their lesson and will own the shit out the conditioning.

Just making sure there’s no confusion, the pics I posted arent from 8 weeks out, I think they’re from after last year’s O, not sure tough.
I was commenting pro-a-g’s pic of cutler 8weeks out
Stiil, I dont think Kai at his best would look as good as Cutler on the pics I posted, same for Heath
Here, I will quote MYSELF concerning the 2 black and white pics of Cutler.
I posted them because
- I think he looks better (at least his waist) than he did on stage at the actual Olympia last year.
- We can “assume” this is the package to beat, and I was saying I dont think anyone has what takes to beat such a package, for now.
- I dont think many ppl had seen these pics
Sorry for the confusion, if it caused any, altough it shouldnt have with the 2nd post I had made
Seems like Jay is the consensus predicted winner, I would love to see Phil win it though, chances are slim but I wont say its impossible.
Im lucky enough to get to see this live next month, anyone else going?

The number 2 spot comes down to victors condition vs Kai’s new size and his conditioning pre Arnold '10. Victor has better structure than heath and kai is bigger than heath. If both are off in some aspect heath can take the 2 spot.
Victor has the best shape and structure in the show but he never looks as good on stage as he does in pictures by himself. If Jay fucks up royally and Victor is at his best ever he’ll win.
My guess is that Cutler wins pretty easily but not as big of a margin as last year.
- Heath
- Victor because his legs still arent back (just a guess, relax)
- Dexter added some size with the help of Charles Glass and always gets in shape.
- Greene because his condition will be slightly off
- Roelly because lets face it, its his first O and the judges make people pay their dues, in which case 6 is still a unbelievable accomplishment
- Branch. last year was afluke. He looks like shit, frankly speaking. Great guy, horrible shape and lines
Round out the top 11 with Hide, Haley and Freeman and Wolf
Man, how about ronny rockel? Hes looking good from the recent MD videos of him 7 weeks out. I’m hoping he will break the top 5

Why the fuck are you guys showing pics of Cutler FROM LAST YEAR?
I got it from australian muscle on facebook and they said it was 2010. 8 weeks out. Let me research but he does look a little different.

This is him 11 wks out so why not? Or were you making reference to zraw’s photos?

The field is stronger this year than it was last year. Not saying he doesnt have a chance at top 10 because he does. My prediction banks on the fact that freeman and wolf improve their condtioning, wolf especially.
All of the guys on my list, except for Hide, have so much more mass than he does.
Do the guys that place top 10 get decent money? or is it simply a matter of pride/publicity to place top 10?

Dependent upon your perspective, none of them make decent money from shows I believe.
I could be wrong, but I think the money is in your marketability outside the stage.
It used to be that only the top 5 (or 6) made any money. I think it’s changed so that everyone gets ‘something’, but it’s only about $1000-$2000 for anything out of the top spots.

Cutler got the biggest check ever in pro bodybuilding last year. 200k. Total prize money for the show was 800k.
2006 1st place was 155k. Second place was 90k. 10th got 14k and all the rest got 4k. Total was 500k
2010 Arnold 1st place 130k + a car + a watch. 2nd 75k. 3rd 50k. 10k for best poser and 10k for most muscular

For a newcomer it’s probably not the prize money that motivates them but more so the supplement contract they could land. It’s a big difference between being sponsored(if they even are) by the 57th best supplement company one week, making a big splash at the Olympia, and then the top 1-3 the next with exclusive contracts from some of the bigger magazines. Guest posing, seminars and all that come from the increased exposure.
One can help pay for your fees to do the show and put you up in a hotel and the other can provide you a salary to do this full time without a job and live comfortably.
Winning the show I believe nets you about 200,000 the last few years so that’s a huge deal no matter who you are but it diminishes quickly from there. Looking at a breakdown from '05 the money went
150,000
85k
55k
45k
35k
27k
16k
15k
14k
12k
and outside the top 10 was all set at 2k as Stu said.
Thanks for the responses guys, I appreciate it, very interesting to learn about that facet of the sport.
I really want to see Toney and Dexter do well this time, and I would like to see Vic win it. But I think the predictions in this thread are pretty spot on.
Really the only thing holding Victor back is his conditioning (well…and leg). With his shape and proportions, if he were to come in as conditioned as Phil did in the Arnold earlier this year for example, he would do amazingly well. I really hope he nails it. That would make an already stacked lineup all the more intense.

I like Vic, but I think he always looks better than he is in shots by himself (a la Flex Weeler, or Shawn Ray). I’m thinking that Jay’s gonna win, then retire, Phil and Kai will fight it out for 2nd (I like Phil’s chances better), Branch, barring a lat injury (may just be an odd photo above), and repeating his conditioning from last year in 4th, followed by (in any order), Jackson, Rockel, Winkler, Vic, and MAYBE Wolf depending on his last couple of weeks. Freeman may be somewhere in the top 10,… I’m sure I’m forgetting a bunch of guys, but the top 5 is pretty much set in my mind.

I 2nd the motion for cutler winning again, He’s just a monster, especially since he shrunk his waist last year.
I’m a fan of wolf, but i don’t think he’ll make it to the top 5 unfortunately.
And IMHO, the only reason dexter won that year was because everyone else sucked.
I’m going for Kai this year, I think Cutler looked so good last year because he was so detirmened after losing it in 2008. I doubt he will have the same motivation this year but I’m happy to be wrong. Victor is a wildcard and I hope he does well but realisticly 3rd will be his best hope. Can’t see Dexter placing any higher than last year.
