I just started doing this as a ME lower body exercise (workout is similiar to Westside for skinny guys) and am looking for tips on performing these properly.
The way I have been doing them is with a slightly wider then shoulder width stance like I do my regular squats and going down until my elbows come into contact with my upper theigh. i’m trying to keep my back as upright as possible and I just picked up some thick sweat bands to put on my forearms as I have bruising from doin a set with 225lbs.
Any help is appreciated and my lower back hams got killed just like I was hoping!
Sounds like you got it down. I love these to start a workout. here’s a description:
(A) With bent arms place a barbell just under your lower chest holding it in the crook of your arms. There are two ways to hold the bar, one is to cross your right forearm over your left forearm to help stabilize it, and the second is simply to keep the bar in the crook of your arms while you keep them bent. Keep your head up, back straight, and feet planted firmly on the floor about sixteen inches apart. (B) Squat down until your upper thighs are parallel with the floor. Your head should remain up, back straight I and your knees slightly out to the sides. Return to starting position and repeat.
