That tells me all I need to know.

Oh I’m still holding out in case one of those three clowns decides to pay me a visit. 3k is a juicy wager.

The fact you’ve been here so long with nothing to show except 14k posts is both pitiful and entertaining.

Perma loser.

I forgive you for hiding behind 14k posts with nothing to show for it.

And that’s a faceless man who-unlike you- is actually progressing in this game.

I am willing to prove it. Hence my 3k wager. Not my fault the clowns in question didn’t want it or cowards like you want to troll me.

So why don’t you upload a video? It’s like saying “I can beat Mayweather in boxing if he agrees to meet me in Kiruna!” Why the fuck should he spend days to travel to prove himself against a stranger on the internet? Please tell me you get this.

This analogy is mediocre on a generous day - although guys who hate my guts would probably quote it with some applause-type gif.

I knew when I joined this site, the endless lulz would be worth the price of admission.

I don’t know if you remember the thread in question, so I’ll remind you.

Here’s the summary:

Some clowns argued that doing 100 pull ups every day will improve an individual’s pull-up performance.

I argued that method will only get someone good at doing…

…wait for it…

…wait for it…

…wait for it…

get an individual good at doing 100 pull ups a day and not much else. If anything, it’ll only lead to elbow pain.

One of the guys I was arguing with got his panties in a knot and began spewing the usual rhetoric.

So I invited him to contact me (I even provided my email towards the end of the thread) for a semi-friendly pull up contest IF he ever happens to be in So Cal.

I did NOT - like some asshats want people to think - demand he catches the next redeye over here.

So why should I provide a video? If he shows up - cash in hand - great. If not, I still know what I’m capable of and impressing people like you means nothing and gains me nothing.

Aah. Gotcha. Of course, the opposite side can argue the same (why the fuck should I upload a video/pictures/whatever to prove that I walk the walk). Please notice that I’ll stay way the fuck out of all this, I was just curious about your rationale.

No worries and I gotta apologize for using the word ‘fool’ which I’ll promptly change.

And yes, the opposite side can argue the same. But it’s the wager of cold hard cash that adds an interesting variable to the mix.

And that’s the poker game that I find so entertaining. I know what hand I’m holding…

Wow, this thread was an interesting read for a Sunday morning :P" At least the internet arguments on this site keep it fun and civil, not a single rule 34 violation or invocation of Godwin’s Law in sight! Good on you all, it’s nice to see a relatively civil thread hijacking.

On an unrelated note, Mino, where do you train in SoCal? I ask because I’ll be down there for the last half of December and the beginning of January… I have my retirement cabin up in Big Bear where I go and snowboard and do a little fix-it-up work every year, getting ready for when I can actually afford to retire. You’d probably kick my old ass in a pull-up contest, but I always enjoy the opportunity to lift with knowledgeable people and learn a bit.

why the fuck are you guys hijacking Yogi’s thread?

I lol’ed though. What was the wager? I can’t remember what it was specifically, and I don’t really want to sift through old threads to find it.

True, my bad yogi. Won’t happen again, my ignore list has grown.

Wage was like $5K for heaviest single, most reps, and something else. Best 2/3 wins. It was csulli that was challenged (he actually posted a video).

Got ya. Csulli and Chia love their pull ups. They’re both damn good at them too. And they both have impressive backs.

Also, I don’t know who was saying what in that discussion, but doing a shit ton of pull ups can certainly lead to awesome back development, without unnecessary elbow damage (I think minotaur was saying elbow problems were a near-certainty?). I really don’t do much for my back besides pull ups, and I think I’ve got decent back development.

Anyway.

Hi Yogi.

That was basically the jist of it Flip.

I’m much closer to the financial district in LA. Do they have good gyms by Big Bear? I belong to a national chain - not always the best but all I really use are barbells, dbs, cables, some machines, and bands. It would be nice to join a gym with more specialized equipment, though.

No worries about any wager between us. That semi-friendly contest I suggested last year was between me and several other guys who mistakenly believed doing 100 pull ups every day was some holy grail. There are smarter ways. Much smarter ways. And somehow people wanted to troll the new guy (me at the time) so I said, fuck it - let’s make things just a tad more interesting than some video-posting war.

And that’s when the endless lulz began.

I genuinely suggest to any doubters out there to knock out 100 good, clean, non-kipping reps a day, every single day. Do that for 12 months. A very small lucky few might see some progress with no elbow issues. The rest…? Like I said before, they’ll just be good at that particular task and will have to pop tylenols like M&Ms and chase it with booze before they can attack their keyboards to flame me.

Heyyy guys! What’s been happening in here? I bet 5 thousand pounds you can’t come to my hometown and beat me at connect 4. Pussies.

I’ve decided to start doing cardio. I hate myself. New routine’s gonna be:

Monday - Upper using barbells for pressing, slightly lower reps for pressing (starting about 12 reps, working up to a heavy 4-6). Pull work will be mostly vertical
Tuesday - Lower (“lower” really just means front squats and a smidge of core). Want a 180k front squat by the end of next year.
Wednesday - Steady state mind numbing excruciating cardio. Urgh.
Thursday - Upper using mostly dumbbells, much higher reps (starting about 20, working up to heavy 10-12), pull work mostly horizontal. Might do a little core work in this day too
Friday - Interval type cardio with a bit of steady state after

Not sure exactly how I’ll structure the arm and shoulder work within that. Might do triceps/lateral delts one of the upper days, biceps and rear delts the other, or I might do both each day.

So why the cardio? Well, my old man is hypertensive and I’m not getting any younger. Also my resting heart rate is kinda high. It’s within the acceptable physiological range for someone my age, but I feel like as an active dude I should be at the lower end of that, as opposed to right up at the top. I’m not really bothered about cardio keeping me lean or whatever as my skinny dude genetics take care of that for the most part along with the occasional mini cut I do every now and then, so I’m not going to be doing it fasted or anything like that. It’s purely for the sake of my heart.

And I really don’t think it’s going to have any detrimental effect on muscle gain or anything stupid like that.

So that’s what’s going on with me, how’ve y’all been?

5,000 pounds, what’s that, about three fiddy??
