Yawning in the Gym - Anyone?

I’ve come to notice that every once in awhile, towards the end of a training session I’ll start to yawn. I can be breathing heavy and training hard but still manage to yawn.

This always happens towards the end of a work out when I’m more fatigued. It’s got to be a common thing because I know a few other guys that also yawn late workout.

Of course it’s due to a lack of oxygen. I’m just curious to see if anyone has ever actually researched and attained the facts.

I’m at the gym at 2am (after getting up at 1:30am)…I yawn a lot!!

yea it happens to me, i never knew it was just due to lack of oxygen since i just normally associate it with being bored or tired.

so id finish up a hard ass set and yawn and id just be perplexed like how can i push myself any harder?

Nope… But I’ve farted in the gym during heavy squats and leg presses.

It’s a sure fire way to keep the power rack to yourself.

yawn as well sometimes, sweating like crazy pulse at 155 bpm yet i yawn, not frequent but once in a while.

HAHAHAH! I don’t know whats funnier, your comment, or your picture LMAO!!

Seem to yawn mostly when training very heavy (90%+), low reps.

I’ve just yawned.

I read somewhere you also yawn to cool down your head, which would make sense if you’re doing intense training. Not sure quite how reliable that is though.

Haha, I just yawned too right when I read the title. I guess they are contagious.

Same here. Power of suggestion.

with enough caffeine in ya, there isn’t much yawning.

I yawn A LOT in the gym. Complexes, heavy sets, high reps… it doesn’t matter.

I used to yawn quite a bit… so I upped my cals… and it seems to have stopped…

This is a good thing, imagine how badass you look doing a heavy set of whatever then just yawning like it was nothing.

It also gives you a little boost if you’re stuck at the bottom of a heavy squat.

i actually stopped drinking coffee well, i definately cut back i still have a cup here and there.

just figure if my goal is weight gain why do i want to speed up my already fast metabolism?

I yawned 3 times while reading this thread.

I knew seeing someone else yawn makes one yawn, but I didn’t know just reading about it would make someone yawn… yet, I yawn. And it won’t stop anymore.

On the topic… nope, never yawned during training. I train at home tho.
Maybe this lack of oxygen thing really is the reason… in the gym there are alot of other people, using up the air. This isn’t the case if you train at home.

Yep this happens to me quite a bit - although I find it’s one of those, big, ‘refreshing’ yawns rather than a ‘Shit I’m tired yawn’.
