I want to change programs from Texas Method. I wanted to do a split, but i’m most interested in gaining Strength. I did Starting Strength for a few months, and had great strength gains, in both my Squat and Dead lift. I went from Dead lifting 111 to 287, My Squat from the same 111, to 250. My bench didn’t increase all that much, as it was the only thing i did consistently, but it did go up 20 pounds, from 150 to 170.
Now my gains have pleated and im looking for something new. Im 18, i weigh 170. I want to gain functional strength, but I now want a good body too. So i went for the best of both worlds i figure, But wouldn’t TBT make me loose any of my strength gains, as later on in the program it focuses on high reps, which differs from what im used to. Any Good plans For both Strength and physical gains would be appreciated aswell!!!

at your stage a beginner NO you wont lose strength at all anything you do should give you strenght gains as long as you work hard and eat. But the TBT would not make you lose strength, your simply working a different strength attribute, a form of periodization. Advance strength athlete’s world wide use some variety of it. You CANT and shouldnt go HEAVY year round as you get advances.
If you do the program consistently and with intensity you will make gains if coupled eating. I’m guessing you slacked on that part.
by the way 20lbs on the bench is not BAD the bench is a much smaller move then as sqaut or DL. Not a knock but I have a tendency to guess you didnt give your all to starting strength. Ripp has a great program there, he’s a smart cat and has put a lot of time into that and its worked for aLOT of people and if you folowe it correct as abeginer should be able to progres for many months even possibly years. But you have to give trainign your all commit to it. Many peoiple want to complicate things when they dont ned to be. less thinking more lifting.
all I’m trying to get at is what ever you do whom evers program COMMIT to it. dont question it, doubt it etc, DO IT!!! to completeion and after your done them anazlye the data / results but give your ALL

Would i Gain any nice size on TBT? [/quote]
if you train hard and eat enough excess to gain. gaining lean mass is costly and takes fuel, food.
