Workout While Camping?

I’m going to be camping for a week and do not want to take a week off from lifting. I’ve been thinking of various ways to perform a workout while gone (i.e. doing squats with my kid on my shoulders, etc…) and am looking for any tips / advice. Ill be doing all kinds of hiking and the likes but want to continue the lifting. Currently Im doing Waterburys SOB program and Ill be camping in week 3 of the program.

Thanks in advance!

I guess you can do some pushups everyday. Although i don’t think it’s really going to hurt you at all if you don’t work out for a week. I thought the point of a vacation was to get away from things in your everyday life and have fun. I’ll be going to Hawaii in a few weeks and i won’t be working out at all because i’ve got a lot of stuff planned.

Who knows, the week off might let your muscles recover and be ready for when you come back.

pistols
pushups
pullups from a tree
car-pushes (not sure how ‘camping’ you’ll be- if near a car, go for it).

Kettlebell snatches (not sure if you’ve got a kettlebell).

Not perfect, but should do the trick, if you’re willing to take the time to do them.

Find a log or rock near camp site, lift log or rock, repeat as needed.

Make like Tarzan and swing from the trees…

looks like a perfect opportunity to try that

if i were in your position, i would honestly strategically overtrain–just a bit–the week before and use the week of the camping trip to rest and enjoy doing other things

if you feel like you’ll have an itch to train all week, go ahead and do pushups, pullups off some branches, and toss around some heavy stuff you find

Appreciate the suggestions and all others from everyone else. I will have a car onsite and will be able to do pushes, however, not too far based on the campsite. Should be a great deal of logs and other stuff around to lift and throw around. The other thought I had was maybe to break from lifting much (besides bw type stuff) and work hard on some cardio for the week - something I truly need. If I do a great deal of cardio, a bit of campsite lifting, and keep up on the supplements (protein, bcaa, and creatine) will I be good for the week?

Sorry for so many questions / concerns but I’ve only been back lifting now for about 8-9 weeks after a 15 year layoff and the gains I’m seeing are awesome and I want to keep going.

i say forget about working out for that week. it’s not going to make any loss in muscle mass which you won’t be able to build back within a few workouts. but if u really can’t get your mind off training then i guess u can follow through with the above suggestions.

i agree with bull…
I have no idea if this is any good advice but thats what I would do, train hard as f**k, enought to leave your body dead for the week, the day before you leave, and truly enjoy the camping vacation
