Nice job!
Very impressive Phil, and doing your best lifts all in one meet is pretty kick ass as well.
Did you miss your weight class going for 242 or did you just not care about your exact weight?

I cut weight, but didn’t quite make it. I probably could have dropped the 1.4lbs, but I was more concerned with having a good meet. As it turned out I would have placed 3rd at 242, but instead I won the 275’s.
Since I am the one who owns this thread, I will be the one to decide who deserves to be called the strongest… Hats off to Maraudermeat! I don’t think his 605 pound front squat is touchable by anyone who actively posts in here…
His definitely a strong mofo.

Great lifting Phil. Very impressive numbers.

3rd place with a 1650 raw, that must have been a pretty competitive meet. Glad to see that happening. Every once in a while I find I am stronger with a small weight cut, not exactly sure why other than just perhaps “feeling” better (although sometimes I feel stronger bloated too but that doesn’t help with the weight class ;).
Keep up the hard training, see if you can rock in the 1700’s soon.

Thanks, Modi. Awesome job on your 85lbs squat PR. I look forward to seeing you lift at Raw Nationals.

That meet was a NASA meet and I would do better there if I gained more weight and stay in the 275 class. But due to being diabetic it is better for me to be lighter.
Thanks, Tim. I am working even harder this training cycle. I switched to Sheiko from 5/3/1. My goal is to break the 1700 barrier at USAPL Raw Nationals in July.
Philip - I just checked the raw American Records for USAPL and it is 700 for the 242 class and 710 for teh 275 class, so you should have a good shot at either of those. Good luck at Raw Nationals, I was planning on doing that meet as well but alas my knees didn’t cooperate with me.

Definitely. I look forward to meeting you.
I really think you should try to make the 242’s for Nationals. Not that I’m trying to get rid of my competition in the 275’s, but… ![]()

Thanks and thanks for the info, Tim! I placed 5th last year with only 8 weeks of training for raw competition. I had been competing in multi ply gear. So I feel better about my chances this year.
I am sorry to hear that you had knee problems. I wish you a speedy recovery and hopefully you can make it next year.

I will for sure be competing 242’s. That is enough of a challenge for me much less giving up 20+ pounds of bodyweight. LOL!

your not the only one
i wonder f this is all TYPE2B does all day? i mean i post shit to leanr cuz im pretty much a beginner, but type is a lil nooby.
and i think hanley is. even though he’s in double ply, if you dont have the raw stength, your not gonna have that great of numbers, cuz bench shirts dont give 300 pounds carryover (unless its like 11 ply)
i got a sub topic to this, whos the strongest raw DEADLIFTER? (conventional)
Hanley competes IPF which means single ply.

Why only conventional? Is sumo cheating?
Shane54 had the biggest raw conventional DL that I know of, but he hasn’t posted in about a year:

everybody knows that the sumo is a cheater pull. it’s almost as bad as pulling in gear.

Man I really don’t rate… 675-700 squat, 460 bench and 575-600lb pull at 242 doesn’t compare to what some of the guys are doing!
I know Mark Bell (AKA Jackass) was posting here at some point, so I’d say that he’d trumps everyone on this debate.

Fuck Hanley, 242!?!
Am I wrong in thinking that it wasn’t that long ago when you where competing in the 198’s?
