I guess I had better clear something up. I know someone will remember my post on the Steroid forum asking about painful injections. Lest someone acuse me of lying about being natural, I had better tell you that I am on Doctor Script. 200 mg of Cyp. A month, simply to keep my test in the normal range. I have a family history of low T levels, and with out the supplemental my T-levels is about 180. With 200mg a month it is about 650. Ok is that clear enough?
To whoever: Yes, I’m quite aware that I warm up w/81% of my max. But I don’t worry about percentages - I follow my instincts. And after 19-years of weight training with nary a injury, I think my instincts have been right -on. Ko does perform a lighter set previous to his 225 as a warm up.
PR last night. Age:41. Flat Dumbbell press: worked up to the 100’s. Picked 'em up from the rack, sat on the bench, pressed 5 reps, sat back up, carted 'em back to the rack without them ever touching the ground. Yeah!
32 years old, 5-11, 165lbs Body fat%??? 15% maybe? 1 RM 235 in a controlled manner but no lollygagging. All natural, no supplements at all. Apparently I’m a skinny bastard for life cause if I don’t keep a very detailed food log I automatically return to my 165lb body weight.
Concentrating now on being a Strong skinny bastard.
Rather fortuitously, actually. I was working out, and the handful of guys who run the Vale Tudo school here were working out as well, and we got to talking. I went in one night, weighing a lean 230, got schooled by a 160 pounder, and I was hooked from then on. That was about 16 months ago.
my best is 375, drug and pro-hormone free, at 230 pound BW
hi, i’m 5’6" 180lbs and balding. the most i ever benched was 175 and truly belive the only reason why i was able to do so was becouse my spoter at the time was not wearing any underwear and i agot a peek at his shaved nutz. i swear to god it gave me this extra boost i needed to get the weight of my chest. body by jake is my hero. thanks pdog
25 years old, 5’11",weight 165lbs, did 5x5 yesterday with 90lb db’s. Hit 100’s for three on an extra set. I have been using a 4 count on the negatives and using good form. My last BB max was 235 for two but that was when I was nine pounds lighter.
it seems that a friend of mine has decided to play a joke on me and post under my name. those are not my bench stats, nor do i have a nude spotter. i am 5’7 190 the last time i went real heavy i did 315 2x, however that was after my normal pyramid scheme. i could probably get about 325-330.
James, I am 41 , 5’6" weigh 235 @ 12% bodyfat. I have used Mag-10 and androsol. My bench is a touch and go, (no bounce). I’m a bodybuilder but I was brought up training around powerlifters. I was fortunate enough to do some of my early training at Black’s Health World back in the early eighties as a kid. I learned from guys like John Florio, Dave Waddington and many other outstanding lifters in their day. I still employ many of the basic principals of training that I learned then in my training today. Most of the people in the club where I train assume that I am a powerlifter when they observe me train in a mass cycle. You can’t beat Squats, Deadlifts, and Bench Press for building a solid foundation.
Weight 215, BB bench 6 x 315 no belt, no straps, no wussy stuff
Age-31,Ht-5’6", wt-178 to 185, best raw bench yet-360lbs, did 150’s for one rep-took a long time on the concentric. 400 here I come!
Bench: 325 1r, raw. Arched back, poewrlifting style. 49 yrs, 190 lbs, 5’9". Did it at 3 1 0 count (thousand one, etc.)
I’m 25yo, 6’5", 210 with long arms and about 9-10% bf. Last time I maxed BB I got 265, which is strange, because for chest two days ago I 90lb DBs 7x as part of my regular workout. Does that seem unbalanced to anyone? Based on some of the posts here, I should be doing more than 265.
34yrs at 5’5" and 175 - 180 lbs, I hit 305x5 on the flat with a 302 tempo. The 5th rep was a real b*tch though. DB’s were 110’s for 8. Been at it since about twelve. I only barbell flat bench about 1/4 of the year at best b/c my joints just get wrecked.
Thanks for the reply. The post didnt come out as I had intended. I was sure that I had seperate paragraphs for you and Ko and signed my name at the end. Ohwell. So if you train for 3 sets of 10-12 reps say, what weight would you use? Because most people can’t perform 10-12 reps with 80% of there max, meaning you would be lifting a weight less than your warm up weight as a workset. Also the reason for lighter warmups isnt just to avoid injury. Priming the nervous system, technical rehersal are two reasons. I think I remember reading the guys at westside that bench 600+ start there warmups benching only 135, some started with an empty bar. But each to their own I guess.
Chris
If she trained 3 sets 10-12 reps, she would use 135. I always warmup with 135. We usually train at the end of our work day, so it does not take much to warm us up as we are active all day. In the morning however, it is a different story. In the morning, I would prefer to do a few minutes of light cardio and a more thorough warmup.
240, at 155 bodyweight, age 15
Bodyweight 225
Bench (Raw): 370 Tempo 212
I feel you bro.
Last year I hit a pr squat of 680 to parallel but could only bench 315 (talk about an imbalance). My bench has always sucked. Oh well
