Bullshit. While two individuals can start in completely different levels of strength based on several factors from genetic ability to how quickly they learn an exercise, past neurological efficiency and technique improvement, BOTH would have to get bigger to see further increases in strength. I don’t understand how this got so misunderstood over the last few years.
It is UNtrue that size has nothing to do with strength. Size simply isn’t the ONLY factor when it comes to how strong someone is.

How do you know this? I’ve seen your pics. You’ve admitted you don’t lift weights. What do you know and why do you know it? What is the basis of your knowledge?
There should be a rule preventing people like you from giving training and dieting related advice.
The OP has to be joking, this can’t be for real…

a bodybuilder himself has told me that. i have also read an article in musclemag which said that to gain muscle mass, heavy poundage wasn’t the factor and that ‘a lot of people do the mistake of lifting their egos rather than working their muscles’
this is where my knowledge is based from. I have read a lot of articles from mags where bodybuilders say that high reps is more beneficial for muscle gain. Also when i used to go to the gym there were two bodybuilder type guys that would lift lighter weights than me all the time.
p:s:i do lift weights. but i dont go to the gym.

i have been reading and i keep getting confused by the different info. On here i am told to lift really heavy low reps , eg sets of 3 to 5 reps
then on the mags i am told that its lighter weight high reps eg 8-12, lift with control etc.which one is true?you guys who i dont even see what you look like, or the guys in bodybuilding magazines and websites?
http://www.zerotosuperhero.com/build_muscle.htm
http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/henkin6cccc.htm
these are some of the links that i found on the internet while trying to increase my knowledge. i do love T-Nation but i believe that its always good to look at different sources and see what works.
from a personal point of view, i have always gained more muscle mass with a higher rep range like 10-15. i have lifted heavy in the past when i went to the gym but i never got big(even though i made sure i ate a lot. i only gained fat, not muscle)
the guy wants to get big so my comment was based on what i read, heard and tried for myself.
i cant help it if you guys don’t agree with my views. But i just proved that my comment came from some solid source and not from me.

“a bodybuilder himself?” “a lot of articles from mags”? Well shit, I’m convinced. That is one unassailable resume.

You’re absolutely wrong on this front whether you lift weights or not. There isn’t a perfect correlation. The biggest guy isn’t always the strongest guy and vice versa, but I’ve NEVER known anyone that’s achieved good size that can’t move some solid weight. Size and strength are heavily linked.

But, he is wrong in this case.
I think it’s obvious that the OP is overtraining and needs an extended rest period. Like, a year or 2, to really recover the CNS.
OP, get some ice for that coke, and a big bag of chips, and sit on your fat ass and watch oprah.
And stop being a dumb-ass who starts idiot posts just for the hell of it.

i don’t believe that the only way to get big is do high sets and very low reps. if it was that simple, everybody would get big. i have seen guys at the gym lift ridiculously heavy and never get big. some things work for different people. some will work better with a higher rep range than 3-5.
you guys need to open your minds.
Also i didnt say that training heavy is not the way to get big. For some it will work but for others it won’t. However the guy who posted the thread said that he didn’t gain any muscle mass following a heavy intensity workout. So i suggested that he should follow a high volume one to see if it worked for him. I have tried both and for me HVT worked better than HIT.
Also i said that size doesn’t always mean strength, because there are a lot of small guys out there that can lift 10 times heavier than the big guys.

And you need to learn how to read a little better. NO ONE said that they only way or even the best way to get big was many sets and very low reps. Not in this thread. And probably not on this website.

VERY rarely. With that particular exagerration, probably not at all. But as for your general point, VERY rarely. For every Eric Cressey, there’s 1000 small guys who can only put up small weights. And for every big guy who’s put on solid size and miraculously has never gotten strong, there’s 1000 who are putting up big weights. I don’t know where you’re getting your information. Probably the anomalous cases that make the news because the ARE news because they are RARE.
If you did train at a gym around a lot of other people, you would not see very many big guys struggling to bench 200 and you’d find very few, if any, small guys benching 400. And if you shadowned any serious lifter whose gained good size throughout weeks and micro and macrocycles, you’d probably see that they do a mixture of very heavy, high-weight, low rep training, and lower-weight, higher rep work.

10 times? A lot? Where? The only thing worse is there are a whole lot of small weak guys who truly believe there are tons of little dudes running around all stronger than regular trainers who weigh over 250lbs.
10 times? So if I know a guy who weighes 250lbs and can put up 500lbs on a bench press, there are A LOT of little guys running around who can do TEN TIMES more than that?
LOL
