swimming - got bored of the no competition part of it
Soccer - played defense and i didnt have the patience to stand arround and wait for the other to attack.
Teen - started Handball at age 8-9 so it was actually a little before this but a won a 4th place at the national championship at age 13, 2nd place at age 15, 1st place at age 16,
shifted club at age 16 after the 1st place… and joined the super league(highest rank) for a new team… but was hit with mono so i had a bad year but still finished strong in 5 place after the play offs. beating the silver winners both times.
17 - had gained a lot of weight during the mono and due to education a had to move club… played with them and qualified to the super league but left the club due to injuries.
18 - still overweight - my feet hurt serveral days after a practice so i was put to a crap situation … training with the other ones my age but i played with the seniors so the game never flowed for me…
19 - lost 5 Kg. began playing better no feet paint no nothing… played the quallification row with is 5th best in the country and this sparked my interest again and this was my first succes in a long time so i was hapy…
20 - lost another 5 Kgs and i am now in my prime weight i think and i am playing 2. Division - knocking on at the 1. div team though i dont think ill advance there unless something wild happends. because they are contract players. and its here i am now…

Funny thing about High Jumpers. Brief hijack
My college track team always had High Jumpers with really great PR’s but strangely lacking in other ways.
Perry. 6’10 PR. Couldn’t even Long Jump 17 feet
Oscar. Jumped 6’11 as a 17 yr old. I believe it was the record for his country. Five years of college, never jumped higher. He looked at me with a big proud smile and said “But I’ve gotten more consistent!”
Rob. 7 feet in high school. Couldn’t come close to dunking a basket ball. All though he claimed otherwise.
David. Was a JC tennis player. Someone talked him into jumping for the JC track team in their league championship. He jumped 7’4 in either that meet or the state championship. I think he won state. Coach gave him a full scholarship. I don’t think he even jumped 7 feet again.
end jack
The record holder at the high school I went to jumped 7 ft 1/4 in indoors, went to college and never cleared 7 ft again. So many mental aspects to that game.
Hockey 11(defense 9 left wing/center 2)
Football 3(free safety)
Lacrosse 7(attack/man down middie) college included
Wrestling 4(my biggest regret is not focusing fully on wresting and instead on lacrosse)
Bowling/pool lol… on the nights its free(best score is 244… but I’ve only broken 200 5-6 times)

Veg, you did not run 22 secs in the 200m.
Usain Bolt ran 19.19, if you did run 22 secs you would have qualified for the Olympics.
Haha, I believe 22 is about an average college time.
Belligerent probably knows more about sprints than anyone on this site. I’d like to hear from him if he thinks some Joe (especially of Veg’s general build) could, with little block or curve experience, go out and drop a 22 in just a few efforts.
His times suggest that he was doing different things at different points in his life. Maybe he dropped that 22.1 when he was younger and lighter. Maybe he only attempted the HJ a few times when he was a sophomore in HS. We don’t know. But if there’s any time on that list that jumps out as being hard to believe, it’s the 1600m.
ages 6-15 baseball, played catcher…baseball then became boring
14-18 cross country and track (800 and 1 mile) nothing impressive in either
14-present taekwondo. fought at states, nationals once…competed against some very good people did well. Didnt get to compete that much in college, trying to get more in now that I am out. Got a nice concussion from a good kick to the head.
17 and 18- boxing, had about half a dozen fights, did pretty well…then went to college. This was absolutley the hardest thing ever…and I usually puked after every fight.
Been lifting since 19, more so for martial arts, going to do my first PL competition in May @ 148-165lb class. Goals: 450 squat, 450 dead, 300 bench. Pretty attainable, working on grip alot for my deadlift

Damn, he wasn’t injured at any point? That’s pretty crazy to not ever get anywhere near his high school record in college. Maybe a change in technique?
4-12: Soccer, Swimming, Baseball, Tennis, Golf
12-14: Soccer, Tennis
14-Present (25): Rowing - National level
17-College: Lacrosse - Collegiate, golf 4-5 times a week due to an amazing class schedule and unlimited golf for $255 billable to my parents as an “undisclosed fee”.
24-Present: Powerlifting - first meet is in 1.5 weeks.

Veg has said he ran middle distance in college so I was less skeptical of a really good 1600 time than a really good 200 time. Also, I did think that 200 time was better than the 1600 time.

I don’t believe it’s mental. It’s technique. Former classmate was an all-american high school and college high jumper and just missed olympics.
