lol’ everything in Ireland is drink related!
But on a serious note Hurling is one of our national games along with Gaelic Football.
Here’s a link so you can see what it is.
FWIW the ‘stick’ is called a Hurley
DAMN!!! Hurling looks like the evil spawn of field hockey and lacrosse.
That’s pretty cool. I don’t know why I’ve never heard of it.

It’s an extremely tough and demanding sport. They brought in a rule last year that everyone ‘must’ wear protective head gear (for obvious reasons), before that most didn’t!
One of the great aspects of the game (incl. Gaelic Football) is that players play at a ‘professional level’ but don’t get paid! They play for county pride and honor and for that reason it is considered an amateur game. These guys have full-time jobs and manage to squeeze training in and around everything else.
The All Ireland final is on 5th September 2010 and is a major event in our summer (drinking) calendar lol
Soccer from 8 until 18
Baseball from 8 until 16 didnt play senior year
Basketball Junior high and Fresh/Soph year (not built for the game but loved to play school yard ball)
Football Junior high (no pewee back then) and Highschool. Varisty for three years. Would have loved to keep playing at next level, but my son was born on the day I graduated high school. So Hi Ho Hi Ho off to work I go. Been lifting since Junior high, our school was just a bunch of big farm raised crackers, had to use a sun dial to clock a 40. But we were a bunch of strong MF.
Mongolian wrestling- 10 years. Had to give it up because could not find any Mongolians to wrestle. Hoe many Mongolians do you know ?
Played soccer since I was 7 (now 38 and still going). Played for the Royal Navy and Combined Services at u19 including two visits to the Dallas Cup around 1990/1991. Played semi pro for a few seasons when work demands allowed but preferred the fun of playing in the same team as my mates so stayed amateur (semi pro in Wales isn’t paid very much if at all).
Played squash failry competitively from 14 to 18 but got bored and quit.

Yea it’s crazy huh? The question is…
WHAT ARE YOU GONNA DO ABOUT IT?
Nothing, I’m gonna let DBCooper or Nikki handle this.
uh yea I’m gonna have to go with Nikki.
DB doesn’t like to cuddle after
Wrestling
Bodybuilding
Powerlifting
golf since 3 yrs old. I’m not as good as I should be for how long I have played, I get too emotional.
soccer from 5-18. offered full ride for D-1 college, but was burnt out. didnt accept.
Hockey from 5-21. another reason I didnt accept full ride for soccer, liked hockey more, although i was getting zero offers to play, i found a d-3 school that i played on for 2.5 yrs until i fractured a vertebrate during offseason training, upon which the docs found additional back problems. was told either stop playing or have back surgery, then that MIGHT fix some of the problems. I was not gonna go pro, so I stopped playing.
Wrestling in jr high through high school. was a strong wrestler, but relied more on that vs technique, which only got me so far. I would say training wise the hardest sport I have ever done.
Football and wrestling from when I could barely walk until senior year of Hs. Invited walk on to a fairly successful D1 wrestling program, was on the team for 4-6 months before I couldn’t do it anymore. Anyone who wrestled through four years of school has all the respect in the world from me. Lots of stud athletes on here.
edit- I couldn’t live the frat star/GTL lifestyle and have any success athletically at the same time.

Who says I don’t like to cuddle afterwards? I just don’t like to cuddle with living people. Wait…what are we talking about here? People’s names? What’s RapeAxe gonna do about what? I’m confused…I’m going to go back to hanging upside down in my closet.
Cross country thru my junior year of HS, wasn’t fast, just did it to be in shape for…
…basketball, my main sport. HS, 1 year at D3, transferred and made D2 team. Am 6’3" and was in trouble. Grew up as a center for my small high school. Too short for that in college, but didn’t have the skills to be a guard. Fortunately, had a 36" vertical, so could play as a very small forward. Then in tore ligaments in each ankle during a 12 month period. That really took away the ups and just played rec ball for the last 25 years.
Now been at the iron game for about 18 months…two years to age 50 and wondering if a goal of competing at BB will keep me focused.
I’m the black widow spider, I don’t cuddle afterwards.

I cant imagine what actual league wrestling is like in college…I only did club stuff and it was insane.
