Thanks guys i guess i just got to keep it simple. I have made huge strength gains and my size is right on track as well. I have been on the progam for 2 months and have gained about 5 pounds. My waist has stayed about the same but i could care less. Am i on track?

So have I made progress?

gregon- i am doing that right now. Some people on here have said i could go on a BB split and i want to hear there opinions. I am probably going to just stick with WSB4SB3 for now.
How many people have told you to go on a BB routine?
And how many have told you the routine doesn’t matter?
You do the math
How many have recommended getting more food in?
How many have said that the food doesn’t matter but the routine does?
You figure it out
looking back at my post im making myself look like an idiot. Sorry for being such a noob. And thanks for the valuable info!

rogue- thanks for the input man. What type of program would you recommend running. Any in particular?
pick 2 or 3 different basic exercises for each bodypart. (not talking forearms or calfs), While eating enough is very important, you have to also properly stimulate the muscles for them to grow. avoid doing to many sets. keep reps in the proper range. If size is your main goal, then do a rep range accordingly. 8-12 reps per set. I hear many here say your workout should revolve around lifts. ie… bench, squat and deadlifts. thats how powerlifters structure workouts, not bodybuilders. bodybuilders structure workouts by the muscle, not the lift. it is very important to always try and do more weight or reps, but only in the proper range. don’t add weight, just to show off. stick in the proper range.

if it was all just food and eating more food, how come there are so many fat unmuscular people out there. Obviously the workout matters. you can eat and eat and eat, if you don’t workout properly, you won’t gain anything. except get fat as hell.

No, you sound like someone who wants to make sure all your ducks are in a row before you commit 100% to this. That’s how alot of us start, but honestly, you won’t figure out how to do that until you get started doing something.
Just a heads up OP, roguevampire is NOT the guy in his avi and a notorious troll on this site. Just thought you should have a heads up before taking his advice. It’s not always bad, but it is always posted with the sole intention of contradicting all other advice given in the thread.
jsk- thanks for the heads up. Ill just keeping eating and lifting. thanks

Please allow me to correct that
If you don’t eat properly, you won’t gain anything

Nobody told the kid not to workout, nobody ever said stop working out!!!
I think for the most part we (or at least I) was trying to get the point across that if your not gaining your not getting in enough calories

Assuming you saying “so many” is equivalent to most, most Americans are “fat unmuscular people out there” well for the most part most Americans follow the typical north American diet
Most Americans have a surplus of calories, Most Americans are either obese or overweight (I believe it two thirds of the American population now) doesnt seem like most Americans give a flying F about their health, because if they did they would do something about
It’s like saying I’m not gaining weight, well eat more
I’m not making enough money, well get a better job
I’m not happy, find out what the hell makes you happy and go get it

^100% agree with this. I’ve been lifting for about 5 years and only really had a somewhat clear idea on what I’ve been doing for about half that. In that short time alone I’ve reshaped and revamped my workouts and splits at least a half dozen times. It’s all about actually picking a program, sticking to it for a while and seeing how it turns out. As you’ll read a million times on these forums and in the articles everyone’s body is different and responds differently to different things. Experiment. Find what works for you.

oh ya, here we go again, its not my pic. cause i refuse to post another pic, lol
Frank Mir is a PROFESSIONAL Athlete, he has years and years of proper foundational training under his belt, he can afford to dick around with bodybuilding training.
This kid is a 150lb. High Schooler, he probably can’t even squat twice his bodyweight…
You’re really tellin’ me you think he’d be better suited to try out a BB program?
Sorry, I disagree.
As for proper eating habits, I never recommended anything but adding this Pizza (Any high-carb food) in on top of his already (assumed) solid, clean diet.
If he is eating right throughout the rest of the day, and training hard, the pizza really shouldn’t negatively effect him one iota.
For the love of god man…
JUST FUCKING EAT!

I was assuming this kid knows how to lift and has some experience. he simply wants to gain size. maybe i misunderstood.

Read starting strength. Change nothing in the program. Eat enough wholesome food to fuel muscle gain. Sleep enough to recover.
My recommendation for your age… Starting Strength or 5/3/1. Something that has a weekly progression and that focuses on the main lifts.
oh and eat eat eat.

Why do people automatically assume JUST cuz someone’s in high school they can get away with eating shit?? Moreover why is it being encouraged? High school’s a pivotal time to get good eating habits in check (since you are constantly growing and sucking up nutrients like crazy).
OP if you drink a gallon of milk a day and try to load up on pizza you will probably feel like shit and it will most likely negatively affect your performance.
If people were gonna keep recommending crap food, I was just gonna hammer that point across ^
Whatever happened to your usual bodybuilding foods like oats/bananas/beef/rice/chicken/eggs etc? LOL It really worries me that some people go to the extreme in their actions/recommendations when either they or the OP aren’t at the point where they really have to struggle for every pound. It kind of summarises how bad society/youth has come with their diets.
Typically, someone like the OP who only weighs 150lbs (and hasn’t stuck to a routine) simply need to be consistent with his diet, eat/drink every 2-3 hours etc.
Fair enough if you had to get in 5000+ cals/day, recommend some “crappy” foods. But someone young, who still has easy gains to make with lessor calories needs to develop good eating habits FIRST (get the basics/majority right). If they start off going silly, how bad are they gonna be by their 30’s+?
By all means, if you want to develop erectile dysfunction, be hormonally imbalanced, depressed/stressed, have no drive and work capacity in the gym or at work, to feel like a zombie etc in 5-10 years time…then make up most of your calories from shit ![]()
This kid has three months I believe until Lacrosse season, his goal is to get big in time to make a difference on the field, not to be as healthy as possible.
Have you ever played contact sports at at least a varsity High school level?
Have you ever had to bulk up specifically for a contact sport?
This kid doesn’t have time for a “Clean” bulk…
He has three months.
That’s all.
He has a specific goal, and he should be working as hard as he can at attaining it.
He shouldn’t worry about trying to keep every macronutrient in check, he shouldn’t worry about eating clean, he should just fucking eat.
Three months of “dirty” bulking, if you can even call it that, will result in the fastest gains, period.
The kid wants to be an All-State player, that’s not gonna happen at 150lbs, period.
He doesn’t have time for an immaculately clean diet, and to suggest he does is tremendously holding him back from the amount of success he could have in his EXTREMELY limited amount of time.
If OP wants to be a Monster, boys gonna have to eat, a lot.
