Can’t wear squat breifs single ply only. What do you guys wear under your suit in training and at meets?
Whatever underwear I am wearing at the time.
I don’t have a suit, but I say you just free-ball it ![]()
OR
Go for the old-skool opposite and wear a tight jock strap. You know, for tha “protection.”

Ow! That sounds awful and I don’t even have the, um, equipment necessary to free ball.
I was once told that there is a fed that will allow single ply legless briefs to be worn under a suit as underwear. Yuck.
Personally, I prefer boy shorts over whatever underwear I was wearing for the sake of the poor guys that have to try to get me out of my briefs.
But, since you’re all guys, you’d probably be better off with boxer briefs rather than my thong/booty shorts combo.

USPF allows underwear as well as legless briefs
boxer-briefs
you need the package to be in a secured position as you put your suit on .

I think it’s NASA that allows one or the other.

I’ll probably do this. I hate it when they get all mashed up and make a lump that digs into your leg though.

Problem solved.
I just wear whitie tighties (what’s the technical term for those? briefs? Speaking of which, don’t ever google “Briefs, underwear” → Images). The suit is the only reason I even own a few pairs. But bunched up fabric is so danged annoying.

pretty sure you’re right
I think USAPL doesn’t allow anything with legs under suits. My friend had to compete commando because at weigh-ins, a ref told her that her booty shorts might not be legal. Check your rules so you don’t have the same issue!

I’m pretty sure they don’t, I remember being told one time that the underarmor tight-boxer-brief sorta thing I love to wear for training isn’t legal.
I wore briefs under my suits when I used them.
Yeah IPF/USAPL doesnt allow any legs on your underwear.
I don’t have any with legs anyway hah

snap
My regular underpants that morph into an illegal thong (against IPF rules) when I get my suit on.

So the backspotter had only a single, porous layer of polyester between him and a mound of of hot, sweaty donk? Ay mama!- I need to help out at meets more often.
The IPF has some amazing rules. I remember having to go buy the ugliest meet shirt ever made because I couldn’t wear my Hanes plain black t-shirt to squat in (these and Old Navy ringer T’s make up most of my gym shirts). The reason? The t-shirt had a breast pocket. Apparantly, this is considered an illegal performance enhancement in the IPF- as are V-necks T’s and anything with a collar.
I trying to imagine a group of senior powerlifting officials in the IPF in Germany or somewhere mulling over in a serious and somber manner the unfair advantage afforded to a lifter by t-shirt pockets and legs on Fruit-of-the-Loom boxer briefs.

They probably saw a picture of Ed Coan wearing a t-shirt with a pocket. You cannot wear something a banned lifter wears or yourself be banned 4 life!!
Anybody stupid enough to ban a long standing legend like him deserves to rot in hell.
