I just really started doing them last week. I tried them maybe 1 1/2 years back, but it was higher reps at 135 for track. I definitely like them as I feel a lot more taxed after a workout. Still like to do the bodybuilding style workout, but glad I added these to it.
I got a new powerclean personal best yesterday, only 80kg, but it was 5kg up on my previous which I was happy about.
I warmed up by doing a high speed set of light deadlifts. It seemed to really get my CNS going, so the 80 kg seemed pretty light. My weakness is technique really, which is why I didn’t attempt any higher (also my back made an unfortunate cracking sound), I reckon I can get 90kg in a month or so.
I don’t max cleans so I can’t say, but I worked up to 185x5 this week. Back in HS(last time I max’d) my numbers barely went up when I dropped reps, it’s like if I can clean it at all I can push out 3 or so reps, I think my pull is weak.

What would you say is the line between a full clean and a power clean?
Generally, if the lifter doesn’t go below parallel it is a power clean.
I am glad to see someone using the proper terminology!!! When most peopel say “power clean” they are refering to a “clean from the floor”. A “power clean” can be done from any position (ie floor or hang). The “power” part comes from the position of the catch, which just means you catch the bar in a quarter squat instead of a full squat position.
I learned something today. evidently I have been doing power cleans all my life.

I didn’t realize this either and for some reason neglected reading it until now. I guess I just never watched enough videos of olympic lifting and thought you weren’t supposed to squat much. Learn something new everyday.

I wish I had that excuse. I just didn’t like catching it in a squat.
