I have a question on how to do the push presses. Do you stand up first and then push up weight up above your head or do you do both actions simultaneously ?

OK two weeks out be4fore the event and the damn weather is not playing nice so making some changes to this last week of training before I take the 5 days off pror to the event
Today supposed to be full on events but it raining like hell so Ill do what i can hit the log a LOT try and find a push for my press, maybe some heavy farmer out the door through the rain and back. and I dont know yoke or some shit
then will do Upper and lower ME on monday hit a squat and press heavy
from there will be all event work tuesday light for speed form, seeing as I just did the ME stuff. Thursday more events, Saturday more the same last big push and a week off with active rest prob mainly just working on the house and thinking of the puke fest it wll be draggin a 18,000 lb truck, doing farmers, unlimited time for distance, tire flipping, yoke run argh!!!
The thinking I aint going to get much stronger in the next two weeks but I can get Good at these implements a few ive only touch a couple times on real runs like farmers. This event aside from the log is all sick ass endurance so I need to work on just GOING!!! get that speed up. Not a HEAVY event but prob very well suited for coming back from my injury.
Then post event get back to the regularly scheduled programming
Oh and my damn ass still hurts not near as bad but… Meat do ya have any of that witch doctor rub like your vaginitis cream for an achin ass??
Phill
Sounds like a good plan of attack,
I will be doing tire flips and stones tommarow…
Did I read that right that one of the events is max distance farmers with unlimited time?! FUCK THAT! How much per hand?? Does not sound like a fun event…
LOL yup its no time 60 foot turn as far as you can no drops for me 230 each hand
then yoke, tire flip, and truck pull lots of endurance work, Only heavy event is going to kill me its the log wessel rule three tries as heavy as you can you miss your done

Sounds like a blast. And I think your train of thought is dead on. Tough to improve strength much over the next couple of weeks, but you certainly can improve your technique, especially in events you haven’t had much experience with.
Oh, and I think Meat said something about Summer’s Eve and a tampon…

A blast but killer LOL thats all part of the fun though
sweet thanks headed to the store out of tampons have plenty of summer eve

D) Rope Triceps Pushdown

Ack. I got nothin’. Man, I think yesterday’s DL session whipped me hard. I was going to go for a rep PR on bench at 315, and there was just nothing there.
Even with 3 minutes between close grip sets, I had no recovery ability.
I aborted the DB shoulders after the 75’s felt heavier than the 100’s last week.
I’m calling yesterday the end of a training cycle, and today the beginning of a deload. This was a disaster, and I can’t do anything but laugh about it.
Thanks again for everyone’s comments on my Deadlift PR, it’s great to have such a supportive group of guys.
It’s good to see that the Modi Voodoo doll that I’ve been sticking needles in has finally started to work. I was stabbing the needles in your chest, shoulders and triceps this morning. I made one for Phill too. But all I’ve been doing is sticking him in the ass ![]()
That sounded really whey.
time to back off and rest up. you will definitely come back an even bigger PR whore.

I think you have a more severe case so you will need a more powerful remedy. go to costco/BJ’s and buy the biggest economy size box of tampons that you can find… you will need it. take exactly 12 tampons, remove the applicator. duct tape them together. soak them in a large pot of summer’s eve (peaches n’ cream) for exactly one hour.
at this point they will be completely saturated with the mythical healing properties (as well as make you smell like a spring time morning). you may find them hard to insert into the “chocolate starfish” so use a paste made up of one part vagisil- two parts gynolotramin and one part chalk dust.
your ass will thank me!!!

I was thinking of using exercises that all involves barbells instead of dumbells . Currently for my lats I am using dumbell rows, barbell rows and lat pull.
Any suggestion for replacing the dumbell rows ? I know there is the chest supported rows but I don’t have that kind of equipment in my gym
teotjunk
Why? 1 arm DB rows are my favorite back exercise besides DL’s
Someone who competed regularly at national level for powerlifting advised me to switch to barbells when ever possible.

I wouldn’t limit myself by excluding dumbells.
They have their place IMO.

You POP it bro. have the bar racked on your shoulder and its a quick little dip. and explode POP that suckerit will drive off your chest witout you even pressing it. You then Press that sucker up.
Really allows you to over load the weight if your any good at push pressing which takes time and practice

Event/conditioning June 30th
Raining SUCK!! Nice and cool though
Going to be a bit more brief on the events due to Im going to do three events sessions this coming week so just went about an hour 15 mins
Log Clean and Press
120 x 10
140 x 5
170 x 5
190 x 3
210 x 2 Hmm this gave small pain in arm stopped the clean
220 x 2
230 x 1
My upper body is weak as a damn kitten, need a LOT of work
OK that sucks on the Log clean. Its what I had worried about prior that explosion getting the log UP. Need to hug it better and push gut out, pop my hips, and roll that damn thing. Bonus is my log is Much harder to clean then a steel 12?? log but still have a long, LONG!! way to go.
Pushing got a bit better Im still getting the load out in front of me to far need to get my head back roll that log onto chest and POP it. Practice practice and just get stronger
Man dropped both of them trying to make the third turn. Not bad I suppose need to get a lot faster get up speed then take my turn. Not to shabby for a first time pretty much 135 feet carrying one of me and a 1lb plate in each hand LOL. Talk about a quick way to stretch out that tendon LOL
Heavy sled drag again in the rain
Im not sure what it weighed. Loaded it until I couldn??t move it then took off 35 lbs LOL.
Dragged it two city blocks. The trip down the block wasn??t bad I was dead at the end of the block but made it non stop. The way back different story at about the half way point lots of rest pause legs were on fire.
that??s it, twas enough for today. Rest up arms a little sore feel it out

You get in the same postion as a military press, feet about shoulder width and start the lift with the legs.
Just use the legs to give some extra force to get things moving.
6/29/07 DE Upper
A)DE Bench w/ minis=135 x 3 x 8, different grips
Then I worked up to an easy single at 285 (90%) w/o bands.
B)Flat DB Bench=110 x 11 (PR for the slowed-down version by 2 reps)
C)Chest-Supported Row=320 x 8 x 3
D)Dips x 35
E)Jettison Curls x 10
NOTES: Bench, and upper body in general, is feeling very strong right now. I feel a bench PR in the near future.
6/30/07 ME Dead
Inspired by Modi I thought I’d pull a heavy dead today.
135 x 2
185 x 2
225 x 2
275 x 2
315 x 1
365 x 1 (chalk)
405 x 1
455 x 1
500 x 1 (95% of max)
I’ve only pulled something over 465 w/o a belt once, and even that was 485. 500 wasn’t a great pull but it wasn’t a grind either. I simply forgot to put the belt on after 465.
535 (PR attempt) x miss
405 x 5
315 x 5
NOTES: I made two mistakes in this session…
One, I know better than pull anything over 90% before attempting a PR. I can on the squat and bench but not this. Two, I didn’t belt-up. Double wammy.
After deadlifting, I did the second day of our SAQ program–forward and retro high speed treadmill hop ons. I got up to 11.5 mph retro before my form broke down and 15 mph forward.

teootjunk
Unless you get really lucky with the design of the bench, the bar will hit on some support structure.
I’ve tried all sorts of supported lifts, rows, presses…etc. Barbells are almost impossible to use on some of motions.
Definitely experiment and see what you can make work. Also, don’t forget about 1-arm Cable rows and other cable exercises for back.

Cailing Kalle, I need a light weight partner for a NAS team com on August 21 One HW one light weight to team lw = 231 and unde HW 232 and over
Insterested??
How many of you use a belt for DLing?? I tried it twice and fucking hated it never again could barely hit 5 pltes when i was still hitting well over 6 drooped the belt and pulled a PR.
Ive started using the sfor some heavy squats some but man it helps but Im not used to the extra abdominal pressure and my release vale tends to burst LOL But A great tool. Also find A Tight belt great for the heavy yokes.
Just wondering mainly the DLing seems to me more in hindrance then and aid
