Weird, but impressive

I would do 4 singles now, very very very slow then they should count for something.
Maybe the first one wouldn’t do much, but doing the last one very slow until failure sets in would create a ton of tension.

Yeah, I almost never log them, but I am a huge fan of those kinds of extremely slow movements, particularly for bodyweight stuff. Pull-ups, HSPUs, Ab Wheel, etc., I do them all the time. Isometric holds are equally nice…for example, do pull-up and hold it at the top for 10, 30, even 60 seconds. Or stop halfway and hold it there. Pretty challenging, too.

Day C+25

Did nothing today, decided a rest day was in order. Also didn’t leave the house, which I am naturally very proud of.

Hope you’re all staying safe, and not getting super crazy.

If you didn’t leave the house and didn’t train wtf did you do!! Surely you watched a movie or read a book ??

Mate, there is no end to the ways for me to keep myself entertained. I am single these days, so I have free reign to do whatever I want virtually all the time. Movies, Netflix, books, games, you name it. I just bought a 4K projector as well, which has had me re-arranging furniture and things all over the house just to get things setup how I want them.

Day C+26

Okay, while it wasn’t the same version of those horrific looking dropsets the girl did in the video @Frank_C poster further up, I for the first time ever tried some Bulgarian split squats today. Unweighted (no vest), because I don’t really know what I am getting into. I think I did…2 sets of eight and then 5 sets of 10 on each side. Did air squats in between sets.

And to my great surprise…I really liked them. How can that even be? I fucking hate lunges. These feel somehow less clumsy, and simultaneously allow me to get down deeper so that I feel my glutes are really working. I am going to have an ass of steel just like that girl in the video. This might be my go-to leg move during the apocalypse.

Also kinda discovered if I use the pull-up bar and cheat a little by keeping tension on my biceps and then sort of bouncing off the floor and going back up quickly (instead of coming to a dead hang)…that is a nice little biceps workout. Pretty obvious in hindsight.

Gonna go out and kick the ball around with the boy. Nice day today.

Start adding weight to the Bulgarians and keep the rest short. You will soon learn to hate them like the rest of us.

Why you gotta be all bringing me down and stuff.

Just kidding. I am sure you are right…but I only have that 10kg weighted vest, unless I MacGyver something together. In any event, in the short term I can do them more frequently and find ways to make them more challenging. Like with the above video, if I ever feel so masochistic.

Back pack full of heavy things would work

Good idea, and obvious in hindsight.

@simo74 clearly hasn’t done the drop set of death. 8 reps plus an 8 second hold in the bottom position x 4 with body weight is plenty miserable. Adding weight is definitely a slow progression.

I think I tried to do 30 lbs, 20 lbs, 10 lbs, and body weight on the drop set and never made it through all four sets. I did three and then my legs just wouldn’t work for the last one. I paused in the bottom position after the set with 10 lbs and couldn’t stand back up.

Yet another one to try

Hmm, sounds like a challenge. We’ll see.

Day C+28

Did nothing yesterday, training wise. Did have to brave the store yesterday for a couple things. I think I need to make these trips a little earlier…too many people there, and too many people who give no shits about keeping their distance. I know this is anecdotal, but my experience is that the older people (say mid 50s and above), are the worst and it isn’t even a contest. Hello fuckers, it’s primarily for your sakes we are doing this. I try not to think too much about it, lest I boil over.

Anyway, pushup day today, with a minor in pull-ups. Alternating as usual. Kept the pulls at a minimum, because I feel these directly sap energy from the horizontal pushing. Also kept the rep scheme random, so as not to provoke @dagill2 ā€˜s OCD nature.

So just to be clear on this one…8 reps on one side, and then hold it for 8 seconds on the bottom. Then switch sides. And then do this whole thing 4 times. Is that how I should read this? On the surface it doesn’t sound too bad, but I will probably learn otherwise.

Worse. 8 reps, 8 sec hold in the bottom, repeat for four rounds all on the same leg and then repeat for the other side. It’s the same as in the video I posted.

Ok, crap, I think I didn’t watch enough of the vid the first time. Much worse than I thought, would have to work up to that for a while.

Today was a Bob day, so I punched, I kicked, I kneed him in the groin. Took the boy out and kicked the ball around. Nice day today, actually able to sit outside for one, cold beer in hand.

Probably do another leg day tomorrow, work on those Bulgarians.

Hope you’re all hanging in there, and keeping your distance from the Walking Infected.
