Weird, but impressive

Lockdown Day 73. Still no abs.

Despite the longer run yesterday, my calves are doing fine. I could easily run again today. Guess it was just the muscles adapting to the constant pounding.

Easy pulling day today.

Seems you just got 5 more weeks to work at them abs, with fitness centers being closed until April 5th

Well, that was breaking news, I had not seen that yet. Great. Super.

Weighed in at sub 80 kilo the last couple days on the fat-guy scale (other scale is at about 76.5), so getting close to 9 kilo lost.

Have to run today. Insane app lady says I have to run 10 minutes TWICE. Seriously, wtf.

And here’s the run. Kept it slow due to the increased running time, plus just some awful swirling winds. Sidewinds are just about as bad as headwinds, in my opinion. At least it is warming up these days.

25 minutes (no warmup or cooldown)
4.24 km
20 minutes actual running (10-10)

5.54 on the pace, probably could have gone a little quicker, but fine.

How are you measuring this? Just for some context.

It’s this strange phenomena I like to call ā€œmathā€.

Easiest way is just to google ā€œkm pace calculatorā€. You enter the distance and the time, and poof. I am adding the walking periods as well, so it isn’t the actual running pace.

And it looks like your app calculates automatically…your last one was 9.04 per km. But none of your numbers make sense to me as part of the program, you must be doing all kinds of weird stuff.

In English, we call this ā€œmathsā€, with an ā€œsā€.

This is what I’m getting at, is that average pace for the running or across the entire workout?

Right, in the country you are from, they consider the math to be a plurality for reasons unknown, which is why they seem to be poor at it. In most of the free world, it is just singular math.

But yes, it is the average pace including the walk.

We tend to use more complex maths that uses more than one number, hence the plurality. I’m not sure how advanced you Canadians have got.

I never understood why the US doesn’t use the plural. It’s like saying ā€œlanguageā€ instead of ā€œlanguagesā€ when refering to verbal speech
Same goes for ā€œscienceā€- although, everyone seems to use the singular for that one

In England, we’d use both of those both as singular and plural, dependant on context.

It made sense in primary school, not so much afterwards

I sometimes use it out of habit, just like how I use british spelling

If you weren’t looking to be facetious, you could make good arguments either way. Sometimes, however, you just have to wind up grumpy old Canadians.
