Weird, but impressive

Nothing and this is a perfectly good phrase too. Just when I program oh press for me it means strict. I have no care either way just saying what it means in my log really.

That could well be true. That said, I don’t see the point of having a different name for it when it is a matter of foot positioning, as it doesn’t really have much to do with the lift itself. Stand on one leg call them Flamingo Presses.

I find pressing with heels together significantly more difficult vs feet apart personally. Really jacks up my balance.

I’ve heard squatting on a swiss ball is good for balance.

Sorry: standing barbell leg squats on swiss balls.

Sorta why I made the flamingo joke. Seems like adding unnecessary degree of difficulty. Same with the swiss ball joke that Dagill just made that I am not going to directly acknowledge.

Front squats or back? High bar or low? Wearing underpants or no? You really need to be more specific.

If only there was a blog that featured pictures of such an exercise.

Still sleeping weird, but gonna start on some melatonin or something to see if that helps. In any event, everything feeling better today, CNS seems to be coming back online as a result of my extensive deload (read: not doing joker sets is like a deload…). So feeling pretty good going in and doing some deadlifts, and this is week 2 with 190 as the TM. No time for anything else today.

Barbell Deadlift

  • 90 kg x 5 reps
  • 105 kg x 5 reps
  • 125 kg x 5 reps
  • 140 kg x 3 reps
  • 155 kg x 3 reps
  • 170 kg x 1 reps
  • 190 kg x 1 reps
  • 140 kg x 8 reps
  • 140 kg x 8 reps
  • 140 kg x 8 reps

190 was easy peasy. Stared at the bar a bit thinking about shoving a few more plates on and giving it a go, but reined myself in and didn’t. I have to remind myself that being able to step up to a weight like this without it being slow or being a struggle was the whole point to begin with, so no need to get stupid. I mean, once in a while maybe, but I don’t have to.

Bit of a mixed bag today. Slept better (starting a melatonin thing, no idea if that is why) and also feeling pretty good in general. My CNS seems to be back in business.

On the other hand, went after 120 on the Push Press and failed it twice. Doing 110 for a double almost guaranteed I was going to fail it anyway, but I felt I need to at least give it a shot to see how close I am (or not). I dunno. Probably would have failed it even without the set at 110. In any case, I can see how the progression would be here…if I can already do multiples at 110, I can just try to add to that and see where it goes. It doesn’t feel like it is miles off.

Also decided to punish myself for the failure and rep out at 80. Oh Lawdy that was tough. By the end I could only barely lock it out. These are MONEY. Also totally wore me out for the BtNs, so nothing impressive there.

  • Push Press

    • 20 kg x 5 reps
    • 40 kg x 5 reps
    • 60 kg x 3 reps
    • 70 kg x 3 reps
    • 80 kg x 2 reps
    • 90 kg x 2 reps
    • 100 kg x 2 reps
    • 110 kg x 2 reps
    • 80 kg x 15 reps
  • Seated Barbell Press Behind Neck

    • 20 kg x 5 reps
    • 30 kg x 5 reps
    • 40 kg x 5 reps
    • 50 kg x 5 reps
    • 60 kg x 5 reps
    • 50 kg x 10 reps
    • 50 kg x 10 reps
  • Muscle-Up

    • 3 reps
    • 3 reps
    • 3 reps

Also still glad I can get my ever-fattening fat ass over the bar on a few MUs. Not trying to accomplish anything there other than to make sure I can still actually do them.

Have you ever tried magnesium for sleep?

Hmm, no…but I have some I think. Maybe I will add that to the cocktail.

I’ve used several brands over the years and prefer this one. I think magnesium makes a difference. Most people are deficient anyway.

But if you stick to only one form of magnesium, glycinate is probably the way to go.

120 will be there soon. 110 for 4, 5 if you want to be really sure, will have you there.

Of course there’s a need, strangers on the internet like to see you go big or go home, sensible is boring.

My n=1 observation, ZMA or whatever they call it these days has done wonders for helping me sleep deeper. I’ve taken it for years now.

Got some of that too, not sure I can ever say it helped me, but maybe. Hell, add it to the pile.

ZMA isn’t merely magnesium. It’s possible the dosage doesn’t work for you, or the form of magnesium it includes, aspartate, doesn’t do the job well. I’d try a pure magnesium supplement.

Yeah, I have ZMA, but also some regular Magnesium supplements. Shit, I will just take it all.

Not gonna lie, the idea of doing 110 for 5 sounds freaking brutal. I was rather proud over just being able to do two, lol.
