Weight Belt Distribution

Anyone else ever have a problem w/ excessive loading/spinal compression when doing weighted pullups? I think I’m doing something wrong.

I usually take chain around my waist through one loop, then the plates then clip back to other loop at pt. of attachment. Belt usually sits halfway down on my glutes. My reps are done explosively w/ 301 tempo.

Only adding 60-70 lbs. but when I’m done, my lower back feels like I’ve been deadlifting w/ shitty form.

Any ideas?

No ideas on how to help you but I know what you’re saying, I’m suffering from the same thing.

there shouldn’t be much spinal compression involved. your setup should be more like a traction/decompression if anything. do you have a hard time keeping the belt on? meaning…does it feel like it’s gonna slip off?

Try wieghted vests, I think they were mentioned in the “stuff we like”.

I find that I have to have my belt fairly loose or it puts some pressure on my back. With it loose, I can shift the stress point to my hips. I also do not curl my legs behind me as it puts too much curvature in my spine.

thx for the tips guys.
