Hi everyone, my first post here…this site is awesome,I have to say.
I’m pretty much what you’d call an ameture trainer and have done a lot of searching(on the net) on spinal compression. I can’t seem to find anything that gives me a good idea of what exercises are a possible risk, and what aren’t.
All i’ve read is that squats cuse compression if done incorrectly, but not much else. I’ve alays read that spinal compression can actually be desirable in some cases.
anyway, my questions are:
does wearing a weight vest(x vest) that has a capacity of 84lbs for pull ups have a potential significant risk?
what about liftining weight over you head like military presses?
if i did squats by holding two dumbells in my hands and holding the weight by my sides, would that reduce the risk, or would the extra weight on the upper body have the same effect?
are there any ways to counter possible compression such as stretching after an exercise?
would it be most probable that if any compression occurs, there should be some sort of pain in the spine?
and lastly, does anyone know of any good books/sites on the issues?
Thanks in advance…i hope these questions aren’t repeats and will help anyone else with the same queries!
