^^^Nice Greg, you’re getting smoother with it.
No vids, but something pretty crazy/scarey happenned at the gym tonight: As I walk to the check-in desk I ask for a ball and the attendent says “The gym is gonna be closed for a bit, there’s EMT’s in there.” I ask a couple of questions and walk to the court. There are several EMT’s, even more bystanders and a guy laying on the ground blinking, but not moving or talking at all.
Apperantly during a pick-up game this guy was going up for a shot, and the defender jumped to block it. The guy shooting fell to the ground and somehow knocked the defender off balance in mid-air. The guy fell and hit his head on the court and the defender [who’s falling basically on top of him] knee smashes into this dudes head a split second after his head made contact with the court.
The guy who got hit apperantly sat up for a second immediately after the other guy got off of him, and then went into convulsions and passed out. They said he had been completely unconscious for about 10 minutes. I must’ve got there no more than a few minutes after the EMT’s 'cause they were prepping him and asking questions, but he wasn’t responding.
I’ve seen and been involved in some pretty violent situations, and have some some pretty crazy knockouts, but I’ve never seen anyone knocked out for more than probably 2 minutes, max. Everyone there said that guy was knocked out for about 10 minutes. That’s fucking crazy. Sorry for hijacking the thread, just a gnarley story I thought I’d share. I’ll try and get some dunks up this weekend. Y’all be good.

damn that’s pretty crazy, dude better get his brain checked.
^^^ If that dude doesn’t have some lingering problems [like brain damage] from that I’d be surprised. Apperantly he was bleeding pretty bad from his ears, but I didn’t see it. I did see the small pools of blood left where he was laying after they moved him.

ya, bleeding from ears is a very bad sign… damn
^^^ I know man. It sucks, but I’m pretty sure that that dude’s life took a turn for the worse the other day.

Yo that was a smooth jump. I’d go as far as to say you could dunk a regulation ball on that rim if you could palm it.
You always jump off 2 feet right? I ask because I’ve found (for me at least) 1 handed dunks were easier off of 1 foot but if I was jumping off both feet, I needed both hands to throw it down since I couldn’t palm the ball. 2 feet, 1 handed dunks require better ball control IMO especially when you’re going straight up facing the basket like in that video.
The only time I’ve ever even come close to dunking off 2 feet and 1 hand was actually dunking leaning toward the basket. ie kind of like dunking over your shoulder. FTR, I’ve never landed one of these but have always come close.
Kind of like this guy. I don’t know who he is, but the form will give you the idea of what I tried to describe above but he makes it look easy:
It might be the way I used to jump that made it work for me, but just some food for thought.

yeah I always jump off of two feet. I get a lot higher when I jump off of two feet as opposed to one foot. I’ll practice two handers and I’ll try the leaning thing like in that video. I didnt get to the gym today but I’ll be there tomorrow and I’ll try some jumps and I’m gonna measure that rim and find out whats up with it. (i’ll measure the indoor one as well) I hope it doesnt come back at like 9’6" or something lol.
Ok so I just measured the rims at my gym. The indoor one that I’ve been jumping on in the videos is 9’11.5" and the outdoor one is 9’8.5" lol.
I knew it was a little low. Kinda bummed that the indoor rims weren’t 10’ though. All three indoor rims were between 9’11" and 9’11.5"s… Oh well. If I can throw one down on a half inch shorter rim then I should be able to on a 10 foot on the dot rim. Not gonna jump on the outdoor rim anymore… Well maybe just to practice but that’s it

Yeah I think we can let you slide on the 1/2 inch lol. That sucks the outdoor one is so low. Outdoor courts are unreliable. I changed the net on my neighborhood court this weekend and measured it. 10’1" . The playground rims I grew up playing on were all about 9’9".

yeah it does suck but I already knew it was low. I’m not basing my vert/jumping abilities on that outdoor rim. I like jumping outdoors though so I’ll have to find one somewhere that is 10’ and get some jumps in. I dont really know where any outdoor courts are by my house though
^^^Actually man, practicing you timing and approach on that outdoor rim might not be a bad idea. Yeah it’s 4" low, but you can get comfortable dunking on it and slowly transistion to a regulation rim. And, I’m co-signing on Sam’s “outdoor rims are unreliable” comment. I’ve been to parks that have 2 rims and one is about 10’2" and the other is 9’8". I never understood that.

0.5 inches aint shit lmao, don’t even worry about it, consider that 10’.
some dunks from the past week, first & second dunk are probably the best in the video… my best reverse by far on the first dunk, second one is just real nasty… threw in a SLRVJ dunk somewhere in there too and a weak dribble up (warmup dunk)
i think im going to stop trying to land windmills etc, shit is ruining my dunk sessions, it fucks up my CNS even thinking about it… back to max jumps using lobs from various angles hahah.
pC
was looking for a place close to my house to shoot some hoops and I found a Rec Center thats close. I went over there today and they had a bunch of guys playing. It was a constant run for a couple hours. I shot around on the outdoor courts and then went back in to watch some more. I didnt really have time to get in and play so I was just kinda checking it out. In between one of the game breaks I grabbed a random ball that was really easy to grip.
I figured I’d try to dunk because I was jumping good earlier and grabbing rim with both hands. I WAS SO DAMN CLOSE! I tried probably 5 times and was riming out ever time! All the dudes there there (I was the only white guy) were like “daaaaaaaamn. You gettin kinda up there huh?” lol I’m definitely gonna go back there and play more for some cardio within the next couple days and I’m pretty positive I’ll throw one down. There isnt really a place for me to prop up my phone like at my gym but I’ll see what I can do once I actually get one to go down.
^^^ You could always do what I do and sucker some random into taking a vid. Speaking of, sorry about the lack of vids. I’m catching a red-eye back home tonight and gonna be there 'til Monday morning, and if I can sneak away from friend related shenannigans I’ll get a new dunk vid. If not, soon.

lol!
Hows that working out for ya?
I’ll have to play there for a while and then get to know some people before I start passing around my iphone to people.

I make sure we’re far enough away from an exit that if they get any bright ideas I got enough space to chase ‘em down and adminster a Texas sized beatin’. Alas, so far it’s been nothing but smooth sailing.
