Thanks Greg. Had some better ones but the camera man screwed up recording 'em. Gonna try and get more today. You been practicing on it? With your strength if you worked on jumping fairly frequently I think you’d be able to get it pretty quickly.[/quote]

i actually worked on some jumping today before my workout. I felt really light today (even though i still weighed in at 214.5) I could snap the rim from a flat foot but was only getting 3 (maybe 4) inches above the rim on my run up. I’m going to start adding in cleans again and dedicate some more jump training. I’m also in the process of dropping a bit of weight so once I get down a little under 210 I think I’ll be getting up there good but who knows?

I was going to post a pic and video from the gym today in my log but im up staying with some family for the weekend so its not working from their computer. I’ll post sunday probably.

nice about the standing vert’s, shows though, you got more in you on your runup… ~2x/week jump frequency consistently would definitely help with that.

what’s your body fat % aT? you always look relatively lean in your avatar pics.

cool

Dude, that’s just practice. Once you start jumping more and getting more comfortable with it you should be getting considerably [6" +] higher off the run. If you’re 215 now how low are you trying to get? Also, I have absolutely no science to back this up but I believe that jumping often leans one up quickly and keeps 'em lean.

Thanks man. Gonna try and get some more vids today. Damn, that sounds pretty heavy. My oldest brother tore one of his ACL’s twice. Do you have any lingering instability, or is it “too early” to tell? I imagine that the strength will come back fairly quickly now that you’re good to go. Dude, I love hang cleans. Feel like they help with the technique for 2-footed jumpers perfectly. Before I left Houston I was working on hang snatches with a semi-close grip before squats and I really liked those as well. Do you know you’re standing reach, and can you palm a ball?[/quote]

Yes, definitely not stable. Even the good leg is less stable now. I tried doing bulgarian split squats today and I was wobbling all over the place. Good news is that my front squat went from 135x3 to 185x2 in just a couple weeks so strength is coming along nicely. Just need that stability now.

I could never palm a men’s ball. I used to be able to palm a women’s ball but would lose it on the run up. When I dunked in high school, I was super skinny and would jump off 1 foot. Even if were trying to get a 2 handed dunk. Now that I’m 70lbs heavier, everything is off 2 feet. So those strength exercise are great for that. I’ve never measured my standing reach before so I just did it. 93.5" with one hand about 3 inches shorter with both.

Man, my right knee felt unstable up until probably 6 months ago. I really feel that box squats [really focusing on sitting back], ghr’s and consistent foam rolling and mobility work got my knees better pretty quickly. Traditional squats and front squats bug the shit out of them. Maybe give 'em a shot? I’m the same with a ball. Can palm it on the ground but lose it in the air. We’re also the same on how we first dunked. When I was in my teens I could dunk off the left or both. I seriously doubt I can dunk off 1 leg anymore, and I honestly don’t care to try haha. You’ve got about 3" on my standing reach. Get your knee issues sorted out and start jumping around as soon as you’re comfortbale. I’d put money you’ll dunk again. Good luck brother.

Oh yeah, dunk contest tonight. If he doesn’t try to get too gimmicky and focuses on dunking and getting the crowd involved I got DeRozan taking it. He can put down some pretty impressive dunks.

derozan got robbed, shoulda been in finals.

dunk vlog #1, quad nation for life, fuck the p-chain:

DeRozan did get robbed. He had the two most impressive dunks of the night. McGee had the two most creative dunks, but it took him damn near 10 tries apiece to land 'em. That first dunk Griffin missed would’ve been in my top 5 contest dunks of all time. A two handed 360 windmill off one leg from a straight away? That’s no joke, and something that’s never been done before.

derozan’s dunks were beautiful… he practiced with “jus fly from TFB”, so, undoubtedly he studied some WERM video… he did 2 dunks werm does all the time now… was great to see that, those were both 50’s. stupid judges giving 50’s on prop dunks that take 20 tries… i don’t mind the 20 tries if it’s difficult as hell, but prop dunks just aren’t 50’s to me.

as for blake’s 360 two hand mil off one, ya, mind blowing seeing him try it… it’s been done before on the street, it looks really nice, but blake’s looked even nicer than this vid…this guy has hops:

blake’s last dunk pisses me off, jumping over the hood? really? get a convertable fuck… do that at least.

his off side of backboard lob 360 or whatever the hell he was doing, i want to see that, don’t think ive seen what he tried to do, ever.

Haha, yeah. DeRozan’s second dunk was clearly stolen from Werm. I’m torn on the multiple tries thing. McGee’s dunks [especially the two rims, that’s fucking crazy] were impressive, but they were based more off of his length than jumping ability. Add that to the 10+ tries and it makes 'em 45’s, tops [to me]. The car dunk was pretty lame, just because he jumped over the hood. If you can catch a lob from the dotted line, you can do that. That’s not impressive [by contest standards]. However, his 360 against the grain off the side of the glass would’ve been nuts. The two dunks he missed were bananas, and I’m pretty sure he can make 'em.

Speaking of Werm and TFB, they have at least 4 guys that I’m positive can get legit mid 40’s plus: Jus Fly, Golden Child, Young HollyWood and T-Dub. Of all of those dudes, T-Dub might be the most explosive 2-footed leaper I’ve ever seen. That cat is ridiculous.

^^^Just watched the comparison vid. That guy’s dunk was nice, but what made [or would’ve made] Griffin’s so much better is he came from a straight away. The other dude came from the side. The difference between a 180 and a true 360 is insane, especially when you throw a two-handed windmill into the mix. I hope Griffin defends his crown next year, and if they’re only doing 4 people I hope it’s: Griffin, Howard [game’s in Orlando], DeRozan and JR Smith. That would be insane.

t-dub and young hollywood (haneef) definitely have 50+'s, they both have gotten top of head level with rim on multiple vids and during nba halftime shows… t-dub is 5’9, haneef is 5’10.

here’s t-dub during a WARMUP dunk a few days ago, pretty crazy, maybe 1 inch off from rim but he’s definitely been head level with legit 10’ rims many times:

haneef gets head level here, during a halftime show:

peace

Yeah, I agree that they’re both around 50". To hit your head on the rim at 5’10" is exactly 50". Also, Munir is built like the perfect dunker. Ridiculously long arms, giant hands and insane hops. It’s like he was genetically engineered to dunk.

ya munir’s reach really helps him pull off some crazy shit… he has some insane dunks on 9’10’s or even 10’s in 24hour fitness gyms on Dunkademics Mixes - YouTube 's channel

t-dub is my #1 fav dunker because he is just so mean when dunking, so powerful…

area51 would be #2 but he just doesn’t put out enough footage, i don’t get it, don’t get why he doesn’t put out more footage, guess he doesn’t care much… he can SERIOUSLY fly, at 5’7, unbelievable hops, dunks just as mean as t-dub.

so #2 right now would have to be haneef, then #3 being golden child.

but ya, haneef & t-dub are most impressive right now imo, they are just flying it’s unbelievable… it’s kind of like tyson gay vs usain bolt when they are facing off, and they both elevate… t-dub lookin pissed though after losing to haneef in that sprite showdown, t-dub got robbed though.

Didn’t see the sprite thing, but I’ll check it out. I’ve seen some of Area 51’s stuff. That cat can jump. I think the best overall dunker is probably Kenny Dobbs. That guy does some absolutely retarded shit. The best pure leapers are probably the 3 you listed, and I’d say Jus Fly and Dobbs are right there too. You can tell when these dudes are dunking on lower rims 'cause they’re doing shit that they can’t get when they’re doing their NBA halftime shows.

I dont know what my BF% is? I never have measured it and dont really care what the number is ya know? I just go by the mirror. I can see all my abs right now but I dont look like a cover model or anything lol. I’m trying to drop a few more pounds of fat and maybe get down to 205 or so? I tried to post pics and a video in my log but they wouldnt show up… lame. I’ll try to post the video with this post and see if pops up.

Yeah I think its a practice thing as well. I’m trying to be more explosive with my leg exercises and now I’m going to try to get in the gym at least twice a week and practice my jumping. I’m a MUUUUCH better 2 foot jumper than I am off of one foot. I think if I lean up a bit more and practice I might be able to dunk after some more work?

forgot the video… here is my attempt at the video.

Cross your fingers

aaaaand apparently it didnt work. I dont know what is going on but ever since the site went to its new set up I cant post pictures or videos. This sucks

Maybe have 2 leg days a week, one where you work on strength stuff [squat variants, hams, single leg stuff, etc…] and another where you do some olympic variants and dedicated jumps or just some jumps if your form sucks on the OL’s? If you’re dropping fat/weight, getting a better feel for jumping and moving and getting stronger while doing some dedicated jumping you should be dunking within a few months. I’d actually bet genuine money that you and Sam could/will be dunking if y’all work at it.

here is a video of me jumping before my workout today. I felt good today

BW 212.5 today

EDIT: I had to start a youtube channel to load videos cause this was getting ridiculous. Hopefully this video works.
