Why dont we see the vacuum stomachs any more like in the 60’s and 70’s.Would judges even like that.
I like the 300 lb monsters as much as anyone else but it would be sickening to see one of these guys all sucked in will hitting double biceps with lats flared.
So where has the vacuum gone, did Frank Zane take it.
Many guys still do a vacuum. They just don’t suck it in quite as far. Zane was really the only one to consitently do such a dramatic vacuum pose. It was probably just a way to hide the fact that he was small. Much smaller than everyone else at the O, at least.
this guy does a decent vacuum. Honestly i don’t think anyone looks good when they do a zane style pose, but i think its a great way of developing controll of your abbs

Very true. Considering he competed at UNDER 200lbs, no one should even be expecting guys weighing 50lbs or more than he was to look the same. I see more true “gut distention” at the NPC super heavy level than I do at pro shows lately.
Rusty Jeffers still does it, but again we are talking about someone who isn’t as big as the super heavies and he has been doing it since Zane competed.
I personally don’t like the pose that much but it did amaze me in the past when people didn’t even know what it was on a bodybuilding forum.
