@ Texican- You’re right. But first order of business is getting that fit again. my cals are a bit under par for SpecOps, and my fitness is way under par.
On a training note - I had a very bad bench day. I barely hit 215 for 5 reps. On the other side, my push ups are increasing. Ugh.
Hey LMercury. I know this is the PL forum, but you seem to be on here daily so I thought I would ask here. I noticed that you have been having some disc issues, but are still going with the erg, in the hopes of making the nat. team. Have you changed your stroke at all, or done anything else to lessen the compresion on the lumbar. From the pic it looks like you are in the same boat as I am, in terms of always needing to gain a little extra length in the water because you are so much shorter.

I really haven’t changed my stroke any at all, but I have worked big time on my hip mobility which has allowed me to get some pressure off the lumbar/SI region and still getting good length on the stroke. Most people I row with are significantly taller yet they all tell me I have the longest stroke in the boat and I’m easy to follow because of it. I’d say my disc issue was related more to rowing too much port without taking care of the imbalances it was developing in combination with powerlifting. The MRI showed my bottom couple lumbar vertebrae completely rotated on the axis. So right now my main focus is fixing the imbalances to allow for a better stroke, and a healthier life. Pain is minimal at this point so I’m on the right track. I was able to put up 500x2 for squatting yesterday but have yet to try deadlifting.
Ok so I haven’t updated for a long time… Been leaving the gear for a while (Recent PRs are: 600x1 straps up, 556 2x1 straps down, 507x3 straps down) and now the raw is doing great:
Squat: 405 x3
Bench: 315 x3 *Raw, paused PR
DL: 425 x3 beltless
Looking to a meet on the 21st of January. I want to get: 220, 162.5, 232.5 for a 615 total at ~88kg bw for a 7x bw raw total. Nothing groundbreaking but 8x BW raw and 10x BW equipped are my 2012 goals. I figure starting the year with 7x raw is a good way to begin!
I posted a new topic with my most recent meet video but I never got as much advice as I was hoping, being a under 200lber thought you guys would be able to help me here!
