Under 200 lbs Progress/Update Thread

Watch out everybody, I’ll be down under 200 before long. Hope to do some damage in this thread when I get there.

765lb squat

I’m between 185-190lbs and I have about a 1,125lbs total only using wrist wraps on max effort squat, bench and OH press and no other equipment. I’m currently on Wendler’s 5/3/1 and I love it. Hopefully I’ll be able to post some pics/videos soon. I’ve never competed but considering a raw comp eventually.

Squat 425
Bench 250
Deadlift -Assume around 450 now but I haven’t tested my 1rm recently. Plan to on saturday

I wish your shorts weren’t so dark so I could actually see the depth. Still, I doubt I could even unrack that weight.

EDIT: Not that I’m saying it wasn’t good depth. I just honestly wish I could see it.

That was raw with wraps right? Hella impressive!

depth was approx .5 inch above parallel. and yes raw with wraps, and hopefully a new all time raw with wraps record if i can do it nov 19th.

Nearly a 4x bw squat… Do I need to get my eyes checked??? I’ve only seen close to a 4x bw squat in the real from the feather weights of PL. Good lifting man.

Anything you did different the past couple of months or so or did you just get there through grit and consistency?

grit and consistency. i started out light and just gradually increased my weights from week to week. the best thing i did for this training cycle is actually having a deload week, but i used my deload week as a light DE week. i think that worked out well.

Been doing 5/3/1 for about 6 months now at a BW of 185. I’m at 425 squat w/ belt and wraps, 305 bench raw, and 460 DL raw. I’ve seen about a 30 lb gain on squats and no change on bench and DL unfortunately. I’m thinking it’s because I’m military and I do a fairly high volume of conditioning work too, with sprints (50 yds or less), KBs (swings and farmer’s walks), and BW movements.

If I recall you follow more westside type training over undulating/western periodization correct?

haha ummm i don’t know, i don’t really follow anything, i make up my own lil program based on what i think i need. i really don’t pay any attention to different programs or research them, i know a lil bit about them but i like to just follow a few principles i’ve learned along the way.

Going to start smolov jr. for bench after one more 5/3/1 cycle. I hope it helps!

gtfo.

awesome squat.

For those of you who floor press, what have you found as far as a correlation between it and your competition bench? I recently hit 255x3 (first time doing it as ME work).
My best competition bench is 264, best in gym is 275, but at my last meet, I only got 248, although I was extremely close on 270. I’m hoping this will be a good “indicator” lift for my competition bench.

Probably not what you’re looking for, but I haven’t noticed a lot of carry over from them.

I have a different groove for floor presses then raw benching and tend to overtuck my elbows and touch where would be too low. Also, they make my shoulder feel kind of iffy without the good tight setup in the upper back.

That’s me though.

You’re not the only one that feels that way about the floor press.

Im not even close to under 200lbs, but floor press has good carryover for me, I keep essentially the same groove as my raw press.

Your a lean 200 lber stuck in a bigger body, you can post here.

As a side note I’ve seen good carryover with my floor press to my bench but it beats the hell out of my elbows.

I’m no longer under 200lbs anymore (weighed in at ~204 last two times I used the scale at the gym), but I compete at 198 so…yeah. It counts.

So, how close do I have to be? I’m at 208 right now.
