haha thanks, i’m ranked 5th in the nation, hopefully after november it’ll be 3rd or 2nd. and my squat is 6lbs away from being in the top 20 unequipped squats of all time by bodyweight coefficient and swartz/wilks formula! hooray under 200 pounders!

Today was squat day.

I almost threw up, and passed out. In fact, I think I may have fallen asleep for a few minutes on the leg press. That’s an accomplishment right?

Oh and there was some kind of dance team try out because there were 50+ girls dancing around in booty shorts.

True, the original title was the best. Hamstring is still super super tight but trying to work through it. I altered my deadlift technique a bit, brought my legs in and my hands in some which seems to take some tension off the hamstring so that’s good. Working with Josh Bryant right now and definitely a lot higher volume but not as high of % of max work and it’s given me an interesting perspective on training realizing that I need a bit more GPP and need to not be such a lazy ass in the gym skipping on ab work and prehab type work.

it’s on powerliftingwatch.com, you have to pay for access to it, but what do you want to know and i can look it up. for the unequipped body coefficient list you need over a 3.605x bodyweight squat to get in the top 20. but in the 148lb raw catagory(i’m going by your profile) you only need to total 970lbs to get on the top 50 list, but to get in the top 4 you have to total over 1300 and the top 2 totaled over 1400.

Thanks man! I appreciate it, I was curious about where my unequipped squat falls on the list(the only lift im good at) current comp max is 424 in apf and planning for at least 455(current gym max) at my meet next month, i guess need about 100lbs more on my squat to get in the top 20.
my current gym total is just over 1100,

ps i thought i saw somewhere that tony conyers totaled over 1500@148

yea he may have, i know he has gone over 1500 only weighing in at like 155, but this is just the current ranking list that i looked at.

if i’m correct i believe you are currently ranked 35th for overall total and 7th on squat, 1100 total will put you at 21st. just fyi if you wanted.

3 weeks out from my first PL meet.

last week (and part of this week) are the 3rd week of my last full cycle of 5-3-1 beforehand. I decided to test some max singles so i have a clue of what to go for at the upcoming meet.

I was hoping for 450 deadlift. I actually was able to get 490 up last week. I do most of my pulls conventional, but switched to sumo past 400 or so. I am pretty confident I will be getting 500 at this meet.

I got a PR on hang cleans at 215 as well. I am not sure what a good clean # is though for certain weights.

I will update on wed/thurs with bench and squat numbers.

Current weight: 162.

Thanks man! I appreciate the info. That list will give me something to shoot for since not in range to set anything besides state records.

you think mits worth paying for?

yea no prob. yea i think it is, it’s $24 per year, and i look at it it enough to make it worth my while, and i really like to see how i compare with my weight class and other weight classes, but it’s up to you.

Well my new end of year goal is to put up 1500 in the 181’s and qualify for the 2012 Arnold Classic. You heard here first Channel 200 News.

I need some help making weight. I weighed 180.8 this AM and need to make 174.5 for a strongman competition this weekend. I was hoping somebody with some experience here can help.

Its one day weigh-ins, so I can weigh in friday night and be back to form for Saturday afternoon.

What should I do? I’m going down to zero carbs starting today, then Wednesday and Thursday I am going to load water.

How much should I drink? I’m thinking 2-3 gallons.

Then on Friday, I’ll only sip on water when I pee, and hopefully I’ll be down to 174.5 for Friday evening.

That’s my initial plan. I’m not sure how good it is though, so please give me some advice.

Zero carbs, water intake high (2-3 gallons/day) for today, wed, and 1 gallon thurs. Sodium load today and tomorrow.

Drop sodium Friday to normal levels or lower.
Epson Salt bath (15 minutes in hot as you can take it bath with epson salt fully submerged, followed by 15 minutes sitting on the can with the shower still running hot as you can to get some steam going - works best in hotel type bathrooms or small bathrooms). Hop out for 5 minutes, reweigh, rinse and repeat until down to weight. I usually leave the salt baths for 3-4 hours prior to weigh ins and never do them the day before. You want to minimize the amount of time you’re actually at weight.

Is there a qualifying total for this competition? Is it through invitation only? I looked up the website and didn’t see anything. I saw the highest total was around 1500 for the 181’s in 2011. I am planning on knocking the rust off my joints and doing another meet in July in the raw 181’s.
