Well my new end of year goal is to put up 1500 in the 181’s and qualify for the 2012 Arnold Classic. You heard here first Channel 200 News.
Is there a qualifying total for this competition? Is it through invitation only? I looked up the website and didn’t see anything. I saw the highest total was around 1500 for the 181’s in 2011. I am planning on knocking the rust off my joints and doing another meet in July in the raw 181’s.
It’s invite only. I figure with a 1500 total they’d invite me. Got some work to do especially on my squat and bench but I think it’s obtainable later this year.

Hit 455x2 today on deadlift. In a competition setting I may be able to pull 500, but it would be tough as hell. Should definitely be able to get it by July.

Did my 405x10. Still pulling conventional for now. 500 will be ours, Angus.

just hit a deadlift of 462 at about 160ish.

almost feels let down right now tho. spose ill just set another empty goal, like a dog chasing cars, not knowing what to do if u catch it.

Zero carbs, water intake high (2-3 gallons/day) for today, wed, and 1 gallon thurs. Sodium load today and tomorrow.

Drop sodium Friday to normal levels or lower.
Epson Salt bath (15 minutes in hot as you can take it bath with epson salt fully submerged, followed by 15 minutes sitting on the can with the shower still running hot as you can to get some steam going - works best in hotel type bathrooms or small bathrooms). Hop out for 5 minutes, reweigh, rinse and repeat until down to weight. I usually leave the salt baths for 3-4 hours prior to weigh ins and never do them the day before. You want to minimize the amount of time you’re actually at weight.
Thanks for the help. Just weighed in at 174.2, and I needed 174.5. It wasn’t too bad, but I would have cut carbs a bit earlier had I been more on top of things.

I added some dandelion root, and did about 50 min total time in a dry sauna instead of the bath, this morning.

Wasn’t fun but not too bad. No way I’m ever going to try and make 165 though.

Next meet is next saturday. Gonna try and total 865 @ 132. Wish me luck! Any chance you can tell me where I’d be with a 865 total raw 2-Scoops?

Tested my deadlift 1RM the other day and pulled 205kg (451 lbs). It wasn’t as easy as I’d hoped but I got it up. I had estimated my max to be about mid 190’s from pulling 152.5kg x 8 last month. My previous heaviest pull was 185kg last November so I’m happy with the progress.

lol yea, you’d be 24th. top total though is 1355 and second is 1234.

just an added side note. the most competitive classes are 165/181-275, it’s just like a bell curve, this is where most americans fall weight wise so naturally there will be more competitors in this area. example, to make the 242 list actually takes a higher total than making the SHW list, and the 50th ranked total for 165 would be ranked number 6 at 148 lol.

Thanks a ton! I’m thinking I’m gonna bump to 148 after raw nationals in August. Im just built very small so 132 is a relatively comfortable weight for me right now and I’m getting a lot pound for pound 9(3x bodyweight deadlift finally the other day!)

Hit 265x2 on bench today. 1st rep was great, second was an absolute grinder to lock out.

A fellow T-Nation member recently directed me to this board. Took me the better part of the day to get through the whole thing, but am glad I read it all.

I’m coming in at a consistant 195 at 6’
275 squat PR today
285 bench
425 dl

Obviously my squat is lagging way behind. Never really liked to squat before but since I recently (last 2 months)got some shoulder issues (impingement), had to back off upper body push, started focussing more on the squats. Numbers are climbing quickly enough. Haven’t ever gotten a video but realizing more and more lately that I should even if its just for me to review.

I won my weight class (<175) in the Xenia Outback XIII strongman show, barely though to an individual much smaller than me.

Events were stones, arm over arm ambulance pull, rising farmer’s, keg press for reps, and a deadlift medley. No video or photos though unless I get it later.

Finding that event, training a bit for it, then competing was a good experience and I made a couple new buddy’s from it. If there is one in your area, I would recommend signing up and giving it a shot.

Finally built my platform and hit a PR on deficit deads. Here’s me testing it out.

edit: Tried out the hook grip and really like it. My thumbs hurt like hell after, but I think I’m gonna keep using it.

Very solid deficit deads. Good form too, most people round their back like it’s their job on
those.

EDIT: How much weight is that? Looks like maybe 375, but I’m not for sure.

At 160 310/215/350 not very impressive at all I know but I’m only 15. I really want to squat over 400 and I think I’ll get it sometime this year

Thanks man, it’s 365. I did a set of 2 at 385 after this one, but my form went to shit on the second and it was a terrible video so I didn’t post it.

PR on squat today: 375x10

Squats have been stalled for the past 2 5/3/1 cycles, even after dropping the weight. I think I’m going to do a cycle with box squats and focus on strengthening my lower back, hams and glutes, and see if that helps. Today my squat turned into a good morning.

Set another PR today, this time on squats. 385x5. 450 squat by meet time should be attainable.

BA, When’s your meet?
