UFC 75 Champ vs. Champ

At the beginning of the show they showed the highlights of him knocking out Wanderlei and ran through his tear through the Pride 183 Grand Prix.

Inother good news, they mentioned Fedor by name on the Countdown, and Randy confirmed that Fedor will be at UFC 75 sitting with him so things are looking good in that department…

Glad to hear they did mention Henderson’s win over Wanderlei and his Grand Prix win.

Yeah, I was shocked to hear Dana refer to Fedor by name. I hope they can bring him in. Heck, I’d even go for a 1-fight deal where they can only come to terms with him for a fight against Randy.

I think it was Dana saying something about people wondering who the best HW fighter in MMA was. He mentioned Fedor last after Randy and CroCop. For most MMA fans I didn’t think there was really any doubt to the answer of that question, but Dana tends to live in his own little UFC dominated world most of the time.

He is a relentless promoter. In his mind the best fighter needs to be determined in a UFC cage.

Another thing that kind of surprised me in the countdown was that CroCop didn’t train with elbows or a cage. He went through two fights spanning months apart without ever training in a cage or with elbows? That seems pretty silly to me, and it really hurt him in the long run (no pun intended).

Just like there was no question that Gonzoga was going to lose to Cro Crop?

No one knows who the best is until they fight. And then they are possibly only the best until there is another fight.

I agree, it’s all talk until the bell rings, but CroCop is NOT Fedor.

Something I did want to touch on in my last post that I didn’t, Mirko is not like I have ever seen him before. This is the first time he seemed to be motivated to win a fight. He normally comes off as being very confident and arrogant, but this time he seems pretty hungry to win. I expect him to come in balls out and destroy Kongo, or he will flop again, but I’m betting on him to show us all he is still the Croatian Sensation.

And if it does happen to go to the ground, Mirko seems to know how to throw the elbows. Holy. Shit.

The point is that Dana will not even speak the name of a fighter or organization, nor will have anyone do the same on a UFC production, unless they are viably going to be earning money for them.

Notice they only showed footage of Soko at Hendo’s when he was in headgear and you couldn’t identify who it was. It definetely leads me to believe that showing footage of him and mentioning him by name is a clear indicator of significant progress in contract negotiations.

You guys are bat shit insane for picking Hamill. He is going to get embarassed.

Absolutely, no other fighter has managed to show the consistency Fedor has. Apart from that freak loss against Kohsaka due to a cut, he was able to beat every opponent regardless of their style, strategy, himself being in good or less than optimal shape that day etc.

That’s the one fight I really don’t care that much about.

Do you think he is going to get beaten up? Or do you think he is not going to be able to execute?

2007 is year of upset. Hamill by brutal sammich fist k/o. first thing he does during the interveiw w/ rogan “WOOOOOOOOO”. hilarity ensues.

I think he sucks ass at MMA. He has bar none the worst stand up I’ve ever seen in modern UFC main event fight. I’d take Royce Gracie over him in a boxing match. He can wrestle well, but against a fast guy throwing pucnhes like Bisping I don’t think it will translate all that well, in fact I think Bisping can stuff him. On the ground he has shown the ability to lay and pray, and in front on 25,000 screaming drunk English fans raining boo’s the fight will not spend much time on the mat even if Hamill gets it there. He will get trounced.

Alright. I fundamentally agree with you. I also think Bisping brings a different mentality to the fight that I can’t really describe but gives him an edge.

I think Henderson is going to try to stand-up with Rampage and get knocked out in the 2nd. I know he is a good striker but think Rampage has an edge there. Don’t ask me why just what I think.

We shall see.

I like to point out that Bisping has finshed EVERY fight and has never gone to a decision. If he loses, he will be back. If Hammil loses, he probably won’t be back. Hammil has much more to prove and going into this, he probably knows that.

Being that he’s deaf, it won’t matter if he is getting booed by the London crowd.

I really think Hammil feels that he has much to prove and will come in hungry.

I agree with what you have said about his stand up game. I see him taking Bisping down and having his way with him. That is if he learned his lesson on the show. If not, he’ll get torn up.

I never saw the TUF season with Bisping on, but our kid says Hammil has awful standup and really does not like getting hit at all. I fancy Bisping.

Rampage over Henderson, although it’s far too hard to call. I just like Rampage slightly more.

I see Cro Cop taking a cautious decision against Kongo. maybe that’s me being a pessimist.

Look for victories for Taylor and Etim…I think Alexander will Ko Sakara, he seems a bit chinny.

Bisping is a more complete fighter and is a hell of a lot more entertaining, but … the lone hole in his game is that his takedown defense is atrocious. He will have three chances to KO Hamill as he shoots, but if Bisping can’t finish him on the shot I fully expect Hamill to hold him down and stay just busy enough to avoid a standup.

Hamill via dry-humping.

At least he won’t hear the boos. Advantage Hamill.

My point is that the referee isn’t deaf. Depends on the ref, but many will get antsy on the stand ups if the crowd is restless. Gonzaga was pounding Mirko’s head into the mat with elbows and Herb stood it up last time in front of the rowdy English crowd. Also I think people underestimate Bispings’s JJ and ability to sweep off his back.

Or, perhaps I’m an idiot  Entirely possible. Also, I think I am changing my mind of my pick of Rampage. I just have a gut feeling that Henderson will win. On paper It’s Rampages fight, but my gut said Randy last time and I picked Gonzaga, so this time I am taking my gut and saying Henderson.
