I don’t know Greg personally but we’ve bullshitted on here for awhile now about all kinds of stuff, including his training which he’s posted vids of. He works hard. I don’t think his admonition of Edgars form was in any way a reflection of his own subpar efforts.

Maybe I phrased that wrong. What I meant was that his efforts aren’t subpar. Or, maybe you knew exactly what I meant and you’re going for a 2-fer. LET IT GO MAN.

Ronnie Coleman did 9 or 10 T-bar rows in the above video. But would any of them meet your level of good form? How do you square that with his dominance in bodybuilding? He’s developed one of the greatest physiques in the world. It seems to be working for him, as it does for others who understand hard training doesn’t always mean good form.

thanks for the kind words WF.
I think ZEB and I have come to an understanding so far. He admittedly is arguing for the sake of arguing cause its fun. We both agreed that his form wasnt good but there is a time and place for those type of reps. I think what we disagree on is where those reps are acceptable but thats a pretty small detail.
I dont feel that its necessary to defend my hard training or what i’ve been through training wise/pushing myself… but I would like to try that BP/Chin Ups thing some time… I dont train for that type of endurance but I’d like to see how I’d do.

I never said anything about those type of body english reps translating to a sport or competition. I said that I think those reps do not have a place in a weightlifting competition/challenge

Actually, I’d like to see how I’d do as well - Let’s both do it and post numbers. Id’ post a video but you’d attack it and then we’d have to have another 10 post fight.
No worries mane. I’d be down to give it a shot but I can’t figure out how to upload vids from my new phone. I might try one all-out set on an off day just to see where I’m at. I promise to keep my feet on the floor but I’ll probably lift my ass off the bench on the last few reps just to show ZEB I’m working hard.
^^Are you going to use body english reps or try to just get as many as you can get? If you clarify which before hand I wont at all attack your reps because I’ll know what I’m getting myself into.
I commented on the coleman form but maybe it hadnt posted yet before your comment

And I never claimed that sloppy reps belonged in competition. But in training, it happens frequently, and for good reason.
I really dont know how well I’d do with this challenge because I havent done BB Bench in months. I’ve been using all dumbells lately. I also never do chin ups. I always do pull ups and I know that they dont exactly translate equally. I found that out real quick in jump school cause the Army does chin ups not pull ups lol.

I actually saw your post after I posted, so I went back and removed the Coleman remarks. I didn’t want to seem pushy, you know not being they aggressive type

Agreed… Now I’m really not sure what you were questioning me on cause we seem to agree on everything lol

Based on my own experience, and people I’ve trained it’s easier to transition from pull-ups to chin-ups than the other way around. Most trainees that I’ve worked with do about 75% as many pull-ups as they can chin-ups.

Well, not really, but we won’t go there.

75% huh? Seems logical… Im not sure what my max pull ups reps are cause I always do weighted pull ups but we’ll see. Maybe I’ll switch to high rep BB Bench and high rep BW pull ups to get a little used to it
You gonna try it out WF?
I wanna try that dip one for sure… I usually do weighted dips but I think I could get a pretty good amount of dips in 3 minutes.

Yeah, I’m down. I’d like to try the dip one but I partially tore my right rotator cuff several years ago and dips are one of the few things that still aggrevates it. I can do a shit ton of pull-ups/chin-ups and I’m pretty confident I can bench my bodyweight [175lbs] at least 15 times, so I’m calling I get at least 32 total and that’s with full rep chins. Guess we’ll see. My next upper day is Friday so I might try this at the end or on Sunday. I’ll post results as soon as I do.

Zeb, Gregron can y’all just get along? Greg’s not impressed with Edgar’s form on the bench and chins, no big deal. This reminds me of people who argued with Crossfitters when Poliquin wrote at article about Crossfit and there were so many pages about the kipping chin-up being a useful tool for conditiong or a crappy exercise because it doesn’t buiild impressive lats.
By the way, a bodybuilder at my gym who thought Edgar’s form sucked, did Edgar’s body weight routine at a bodyweight of 200lbs and he did it with form Greg would respect.
I’m not trying to fight with Zeb. I said how i felt about it and that was all. I didnt attack him personally or try to degrade/insult him like he did with me.
I didnt say Edgar wasnt strong or not a good fighter. I said his reps werent full reps and that the fight was lame (not that he sucked or that he’s not a good fighter.)
How many reps did the bodybuilder at your gym get?
The bodybuilder did the same exact reps as Edgar for both exercises. And his chins weren’t kipping. He did it to prove a point.
