And 570.
Would have set a state and national record in the SPF.

Dam those are awesome numbers, what age? gear/none?
very impressive.
Attempted a 90 kg bench press for the first time today. Here’s how it went down:
10 x 20 kg
5 x 40
5 x 50
5 x 60
3 x 70
2 x 80
2 x 85 (easy)
1 x 90 (flew up)
3 x 90 kg
I’m coming back from a cycle with a wider but weaker grip which was about 2 inches outside of shoulder width. Shoulder width is where I’m strongest. Previous PR was a 4 x 85 kg so I’m happy.
incline press: 245x1, up from 225x3, then did 225x3 after so it was a definite strength increase, now if only i could hit that 300 flat bench…
say i work up to 265x5, since ive onyl ever done 265x2, do you think it would have a good carry over to 1rm, or what would you guys sggest, i have two bench days: saturday and tuesday, both with shoudlers and tris for assistance exercises, also i have a seperate back day and 2 leg days. some help here? thnx

personally repping a weight has never been a good indicator on what my 1 rm is. the only things that have helped me increase my 1 rm are supramaximal work with partial movements.

Some of the old schoolers, particularly Ken Fantano, believed that the best way to increase your 1rm was to get stronger on the 5rm… that being said, people have different adaptations depending on age, fiber makeup, etc. IMHO, the best thing to do is experiment and see what works for you.
thanks for the advice, i think ill try to push my 5rm to 275 evenetually then give 300 a go
SHOOT - I MEANT TO POST THIS IN HERE! ![]()
Here’s some vid from my first meet this past Saturday. I competed in the 165 unequipped submasters (35-39yr). All in all it went real well. Set some state and national records. The 3rd squat was an 11lb PR of sorts (no knee wraps). The DL was a 3lb PR
Of course all lifts were meet PR’s being my first! ![]()
Bent over Row
195x15+5(rp) (PR weight)
EZ Bar Curls
120x8 (PR reps +2)
AB Wheel Rollouts from Knees
2x20 (PR Sets at these reps +1)

looks like that back isn’t feeling too bad. you’re going to need a strong cycle of antibiotics for this session.

It’s an honor to have you call me a PR whore, sir. Thanks! Yeah - looks like it was just a pulled muscle. Still hurts, but if I keep the back neutral I’m good for some weight.

Thanks Meat. Ya well I guess it takes one to know one, huh? ![]()
Front squatted 145kg/320lb x5 today.
15kg/33lb 5 rep PR in 6 weeks. Fairly happy with that. I’ll go for 150kg/330lb next time and hopefully get 5 out of it two. I’ll pick a different exercise after that.

Nice!
You’ve improved so much over the last 2 years, Hanley. It’s been really impressive to watch.
Back squatted 4 plates for 5 reps. 7 more reps until hanley is my bitch.
