Hit 205kg(452lbs)x4 deadlift on Wednesday.
Things are looking good for a 550+ pull in 4 weeks time ![]()
I need a camera so I can film some training lifts lol
EDIT: it was 452 lol, fixed

that is some awesome pulling!! how much carryover do you get with your deadlift suit? I’ve heard that the deadlifting gear hasn’t really caught up with the bench shirts and squat suits.
very clean lifts…even your miss looked great.

Thanks for the props, Chris. Now if I could just borrow your upper body strength I would have a decent single ply total!
Definitely don’t get the carryover from a deadlift suit. I pull in the high sixes raw, so I might get 50-70 lbs out of it. You can’t stretch the suit enough in the deadlift to take advantage of any spring effect, not like you can squatting or benching. If you watch the clip, before the start of the pull, I get my grip on the bar and then raise my head and chest, which automatically lowers my hips and stretches the suit.
I noticed earlier in the thread you said you pulled sumo most of the time and are switching to conventional for a while. I started doing this same thing about 6 weeks ago and I feel stronger all over even though the loads are about 10-15% less than my sumo. My squat is starting to move upward so it has to be helping something. What have you noticed so far?
I had about 3 minutes to recover for that last missed 4th attmept dead. Hips floated forward and I couldn’t get the weight off my legs…oh well, git’er done next year.
Doing any competing in the near future?

that makes sense about why the deadlift gear isn’t as helpful. i know next to nothing about gear.
that is an awesome raw dead!!
i switched just to try something new. before i started powerlifting and was competing in bodybuilding, i would pull conventional but it was always for really high reps and i’m sure the form was shit. i guess i just want to know if i can get strong pulling this way. i’ve pulled in the low 700’s raw with the sumo but as i get stronger in it, i find that my lockout gets harder and harder. i’ve noticed that with conventional my lockout is very strong. i can definitely feel it more in my lower back and hamstrings.
my newest training partner is competing for the first time next weekend in a local meet. I may go and just pull conventional to see where i’m at. I’m training right now for a push/pull meet at the end of february. i’m hoping to pull conventional in it. i would love to walk away with a 1250 or so push/pull total in that one in the 275’s.
how about you?? ever thought of doing it raw? that deadlift of yours would take you far.
im 16 and i started training with the westside barbell principles 3 weeks ago. Hit 100kg personal record on the bench press today. im hoping to get to 150kg by the new year.
Got 240 on a good morning the other day. That’s bodyweight for me. Still think I can do more though. There is always next week!!
245lbsx5 bent over rows. 40lb pr! A month of Kroc rows really helped.

You want to add over a hundred pounds in less than a month? This is an awesome thread. I have no idea how to post vids, but if someone can help I’ll put some up.

I don’t know how to get 'em to youtube…
I have built myself a database in which I put details of every lift in my workout, I can then use it to track my PR improvements in each lift, the other motivating thing I look at is the total load (weight times reps.)
I track the improvements in load from workout to workout, both in individual lifts but also in total load for the workout, this means that even though I am not hitting PRs every session in terms of single lifts (this would not be the best method in terms of periodisation,) I can ensure that over time I am increasing my time under tension. Seeing the increases in that total load, session on session, week on week, month on month is a really good motivation for me.

What product did you use to build it? Would you mind sharing the schema/code?

here is a goal i set myself last january when i was looking for something a bit different. half bodyweight military press (88lbs) with a kettlebell. a bit shakey but will be smoother next time.actually did the lift in september on my birthday.
apologies for the 90 degree angle on the video.

No small feat, that. Nice work!

do you not think thats possible? no sarcasm there acctuly wondering what you think?
I’ve switched out ME squats for more RE work until after my next comp. tonight i decided to do some reps with 585. the first two reps felt very strong and i figured i had about 6 or so in me but after the third rep, i literally couldn’t inhale at all.
I barely got the bar back to the rack before i started to blackout. i figure it has to do with the low bar position. it’s normally not an issue becuase i usually keep the reps low once i get to this weight. i guess i’m going to have to experiment with bar position to be able to do reps in this weight range.
here’s the vid.
