So I know this is training PRs, but I can’t find the meet thread, so this seemed like as good a place as any to post.
Had my second competition yesterday, kinda disappointed myself. It was the SPF middle Tennessee championship in Cookville TN. I competed raw at 220. (you get knee wraps, belt, and wrist raps raw in the SPF)
The meet ended up taking all day in a venue where the AC was woefully under powered. It was probably 85 degrees. Took my first squat at about 10:30 in the morning and didn’t finish my last pull until after 6 PM. I learned I need to work on my conditioning. Apparently almost no one preregistered and they weren’t prepared for the number of people that showed up. We had 4 flights of 15 lifters bench for perspective. Anyways, I was worn out by the time I had to bench. The meet went like this:
Squat: 450-2 whites, 500-2 whites, 3 whites means you went too deep right? The same judge gave me the red light both times for depth, the other side judge said I was plenty deep, so whatever. Didn’t take 3rd attempt because the 500 was quite a struggle and I really didn’t think I could even add 5 pounds.
Bench: 350 easy, 385 miss couldn’t get it off my chest, 385 close but couldn’t lock it out. I just had no energy. I had done 385 easy in the gym a week earlier, and was actually planning a shot at 400 this meet.
So at this point I was pissed off at myself and to make sure I had energy for deads, I swallowed 2 spike capsules before warm ups, and was kind of tingly by the time I got on the platform.
Deadlift: 535 easy, 550 easy, 575 got it an inch or two from lock out and just barely couldn’t get my hips through, it would have been a 20 pound pr.
No actual PRs, but both squats and both deadlifts are meet PRs (this was my first time squatting in competition). It was also my first full meet so my total is a PR (1400). My goal was 1450 and I felt like I left 35+ pounds on the bench and 25 pounds on the deadlift because of conditioning. Oh well, back to the gym, I think I at least learned something I can build on.[/quote]
450 squat
500 lbs squat
535 lbs deadlift
550 lbs deadlift
575 lbs attempt. I had it and gave up on it.

squat is comming back nicely. tonight hit 615 for an easy single. in the past i would have kept jumping until i failed. I’ve turned over a new leaf and am sticking to the plan. i’ll keep adding 10lbs to my back squat until i’m back to my previous numbers. my conservative goals for the SPF Worlds is to hit 650 on my second attempt. I’m pretty confident that i have that right now.
Elbow Wraps = Cheater. Probably got 50lbs out of those, you call that Raw? ![]()

i know… i know… i almost pressed it overhead with my cheater elbow sleaves.
funny story. i was at the gym on IBN (international bench night) and this guy who is a bench only guy… can’t really call him a powerlfiter:), says to me- “are you going to use those elbows sleeves?” I say, “of course”. he then says “using them is cheating”. i then say - “it’s only cheating if i was to use them to bench with in competition” i then say- " i use these to keep my elbows healthy so i can then go compete without them". he didn’t say anything. He then went on to complain about all his aches and pains. hmmmm…

Isn’t every night IBN? Also, is this the same guy who goes around bragging about his massive 315, 100% drug free (and elbow sleeve free).
365x10 on deads, friggin intense set, max calculator puts my max at 487, im feeling if i get this up to 12-15 reps i can break 500

Yeah, I’m really strong of the floor. If you have any tips on getting the last inch or so, I’m all ears.
505lb squat
sorry for the tool standing in front of the camera.
I was giddy all day after hitting this though.

Yes I’m going to be competing in the 220 open RAW division. Getting nervous already though.

Really solid-looking squat. Nice work.
