Training Personal Records

Here are some videos of my lifts the last couple of weeks… I am training for a RAW powerlifting meet on May 9th. Have been doing a Westside-type routine for a while… just switched to 5/3/1 by Wendler (but it could be argued that it’s not 5/3/1 since we have modified it slightly… =D) ANYWAY…

Here is a video of me box squatting with a cambered bar 2 weeks ago… there is 160 on the bar, + 2.5 lbs collars on either side, and the bar is 68 lbs… so its 233 lbs for 4 reps:

**please excuse my friend Susie calling me a SILLY HOOKER at the end… she needs medication ;D

Then 170 on the bar… so 243 for 3 reps:

Then here is my best pull to date (filmed last Spring/Summer… I have pulled 315 since then but not on film… excuse the atrocious stiff-legged form =D)

This is not a main lift… but it was still fun (I never thought I could do this… I have since done it for 6 reps each leg… but again, not on film =D)

So anyway… I will avoid putting up any main upper body lifts as to not embarrass myself =D

Oh yeah, at my meet I am hoping to do the following:
(wearing ONLY a belt)

Bench: 150
Squat: 250-260
**Deadlift: 330-350

*** I always DL conventional but my coach is thinking SUMO might be the way to go… YIKES! I am nervous… oh course we will see how my pulling goes over the next 4 weeks…

Thanks. I’m shooting for a 50lb PR every 4 weeks. Should put me over 1000lbs by New Years and close to 1500 by next summer.

I call BS. That guy behind you helped you with the last two reps. It was like, look how much my partner can upright row. Nice pause too. You’re going to wreck your shoulders like that.

Who’s that guy in your avatar? What a monster! Looks like someone shaved a buffalo and put it in a singlet.

That was awesome.

I haven’t been on here in ages but it’s a bit quieter at work…

03/04/09 lunchtime back squats
161kg x 4reps (the bar looks like a 20kg bar and the weights are in lbs…), heaviest I’ve done at the lunchtime gym.

04/04/09 saturday session
bro and a bunch of other guys said I couldn’t back squat 146kg x 10reps. I knew I could do it as I squated 161kg x 4reps the day before even though I haven’t done anymore then 3-5reps for about 9 weeks LOL.

I showed them!

05/04/09 monday session
I wanted to max out my Snatch and front squat before a comp on the 18th but the Snatch was so so. I didn’t feel very dynamic with 110kg, failed about 4-5 times? 100kg felt solid though.

On to the front squats. My previous PB was 153Kg @ 86kg back in 2007 when I did my 150kg x 3reps.

bar x 6reps
60kg x 3reps
100kg x 2reps
120kg x 1rep rack felt heavy
135kg x 1rep rack felt heavy
145kg x 1rep rack felt heavy
155kg x 1rep rack felt heavy + 2kg PB, felt good so I went for 160kg
160kg x 1rep rack felt heavy, but I got it biggrin.gif + 7kg PB biggrin.gif

+7kg PB for me!

I’ve been eating lots of carbs and only lifting heavy for the past 8 weeks with not much in the way of volume due to the comps. Hopefully this will help put together a fat total on the 18th but we’ll see how dynamic I am.

Bw ~ 89kg

Squat 585x1 (PR +50lbs)

I actually don’t believe that.

A 50lb PR in <5 weeks?? When you’re already squatting a shit-ton.

That’s absolutely amazing mate. Well done!!

Ya gonna do the intense?

Pretty outrageous huh? Yes, I’m doing the 2 week switching phase right now, and then I’ll do the intense after that.

Damn, I just realized those were raw too. Great work.

It would be much more impressive if you could do that without the cheater’s wrist wraps and elbow sleeves. LOL

Good shit Kalle! The only thing better than a PR is multiple PRs.
