hit a couple PR’s tonight which suprised me considering the 455Lb drop on the chest last week. tonight i worked up to my opener and possible second attempt for my comp next weekend. i also set a rep PR on incline dumbell presses.

Do you have to wait for a press command at the meet?[/quote]
yes you do… if you show good control on the way down the press command is pretty much as soon as the weight stops at the chest. if the weight comes down fast and/or out of control, the pause may be a little longer.

That’s good, so you should get quick press commands the whole way then. A long pause really kills my strength on raw stuff.

a long pause is not good for anyone. it leads to dipping.
looks like you are ready for you comp. i wish you 9-4-9 and white’s up ahead.
Last night was my last heavy bench before my meet on 2/28. Worked up to a heavy single off a 4 board with 565. Was tempted to try 6 plates but thought better of it. Training partner did 6 plates and crushed it. Fuck.

My goal is 650/535/600 but we’ll see how it goes. I’m no vet to this sport but I’m well aware that things seldom go as planned. I’m opening 568/463/518 and I’ll just get what I feel I can get from there. I’m not really married to any numbers except the 1700+ total because I know I’m going to squat 600+ and bench 500+.
I’m just going to have to be smart and in tune with what I can do that day so I don’t leave any lbs on the platform, because that fucking sucks.

Last night, raw:
A1 Snatch grip 2" deficit deads 5 x 2 x 445
B1 Sumo 2" deficit deads 5 x 2 x 415
C1 Conv. 2" deficit deads 5 x 2 x 460
So I got 30 reps above 93% 1RM.
Oh course you realize crazy ass volume and weight like that is something you are supposed to leave to us young invincible stupid guys, right?
-grumbling-
You sir, have challenged me.
I really like that session, the three different deadlift positions and doing doubles. Plus, I just don’t care to do any deads unless I’m lifting heavy - singles, doubles and triples.
The exception is RDLs. I’ll do multiple sets of up to 8 reps with those (Good mornings too).
The other thing is, for me, it’s ALL I have to do for that day. 30 reps at 93 - 96% and let’s face it, you’re done. Walk out the gym door. Go home. Eat a lot. Go to bed. Sleep 10 - 11 hours. Grow.
Two weeks later repeat with five extra pounds. Grow some more. And on and on and on again.

Awesome session, Push.
How do you structure your training around that? Do you alternate between heavy deadlift and heavy squat week to week?
